I guess I just don't see the Padres hype this year. They've definitely improved, but there is too much talent in the NL West this year

Not quite sure if the A s get 70 wins. How can they compete with LAA or Sea with all they gave away. Texas will be better and the Stros are gonna flirt with 75-80 wins.

Oakland doesn't have any stars, but they are deep and don't have many holes. Like usual. No way they struggle to win 70 games or finish last in that division IMO.

Their best hitter barely hits. 270 for another team and their biggest power threat hit 12 HRs last year.

Oakland pitching is too good to only win 70 games. Good starting staff & bullpen.

They have 3 guys who within the last 3 years have hit 30HRs.

Zobrist and crisp setting the table. Lawrie & Semien with plenty potential . They'll be fine. Astros have last place on lock for the Weat

Who gives a shite about batting average? They will be the typical deep, underrated A's squad. I do think they will be worse than last year and in a division with Seattle and LA, the playoffs will be tough, but last place, I don't see it.

Who in that lineup should scare anyone?

To help out, the projected Oakland lineup...

Crisp
Zobrist
Reddick
Butler
Ike Davis ( )
Lawrie (can't stay healthy)
Vogt
Craig Gentry
Marcus Semien

Not for one second do I think Kazmir duplicates what he did las year and if we want to use the last three years for comparison, use it on him too.

I love Sonny Gray though. I'll admit that.

88 wins last year. I say 70-72 this year.

I get what you are saying, but is having one scary hitter a prerequisite for the playoffs? Who scared you on last year's Royals team?

I don't think that A's lineup looks that bad btw. No stars, but a bunch of average to above average players. Certainly better than what the Astros are going to trot out (although I do think they will be improved)

There really aren't any easy outs in that lineup. They're gonna give people fits

I see the As as about a .500 team. Certainly don't think they'll finish last, but I don't think they'll have quite the success of the past few years either.

Pitching has to stay healthy.
