Nice try buddy. Bama isn't even the best CFB program of all time.

Oh and the answer to your question, though I despise them, is the Yankees.

Yankees: 27 WS titles from a field of 30 teams

vs.

Bama: 15 titles from a field of 124 teams

Professional teams

Vs.

College teams

Winning Championships through the playoffs

Vs.

3/4 of the championships being given at an awards ceremony at the end of the year. And most of those are questionable.

There you go. Thats the flame/troll thread you wanted and now youve got it.

It's neither. Again, it's the Canadiens:
quote:

The Canadiens have won the Stanley Cup more times than any other franchise. They have won 24 championships, 22 of them since 1927, when NHL teams became the only ones to compete for the Stanley Cup.[5] On a percentage basis, as of 2010, the franchise has won 25% of all Stanley Cup championships contested after the Challenge Cup era, making it one of the most successful professional sports teams of the traditional four major sports of Canada and the United States.

My knee jerk response is it has to be the Yankees

They have 40 World Series appearances with 27 World Series Championships - the Cardinals are a distant second with 11 WS wins in 18 appearances.

Most of the sports world doesn't use Gump math.

And segregation doesn't count.

ETA: CFB is out of this debate with MNC regardless.

I would rank them as such:
New York Yankees
Manchester United
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Pittsburg Steelers
Alabama Crimson Tide
Boston Celtics
Los Angeles Lakers
Barcelona
Real Madrid
LSU Tigers
USC Trojans

*College programs include all sports

Steelers and Cowboys are not tied for most Super Bowl wins. Steelers have 6 and Cowboys have 5. Now, since I hate MLB I'm going to go with the Steelers.
