Conner told ESPN he wasn't aware anyone from Miami had been looking for him and said he rarely leaves his apartment

Conner, now 81, told ESPN in his Aug. 25 interview that he now doesn't recall what happened in Miami, and he seemed unfamiliar with his prior statements.

"I'm getting up in years," he said. "My memory comes and goes. How long ago was this court case?"

This is a weird case. I just read the article on ESPN.

The witness is an 81 year old former instructor at Miami who then took a job at the University of Toledo and then retired in Kentucky.

He appears to be an entirely cooperative witness who answered questions from the ESPN reporter but is likely suffering from dementia and doesn’t know how to use all of his iPhone functions and was unaware that a Miami detective left him a voicemail.

They didn't lose this witness, they knew his condition and thought it would be better that "he died." They wanted to use his testimony without having to put him on the stand

-Conner contacted police soon after the shooting; Conner picked Jones out of a photo lineup.

-Some 13 years later, Conner was reinterviewed in 2020 and again picked Jones out of a lineup, according to Jones' arrest warrant.

-And Conner recounted what he saw at a 2022 bond hearing

-and in a 2023 deposition with attorneys
