What do you think Michigan and Georgia had the last 3 years? Or Alabama had in 2020? What do you think Burrow was? Or Trevor Lawrence? Or Tua?

I'm not agree with the OP, but Bennett, Burrow, and Lawrence were all mobile QBs. They weren't Jayden Daniels but they would kill you with their feet too and had double digit rushing TDs in their career.

The best way to get good at something is to do it a lot. Guys with a lot of running ability get fewer "reps" passing because they are able to take off and get first downs and touchdowns at lower levels of football. Running 100 extra times a year adds up to several hundred live reps where you aren't reading a defense & passing.

On the flip side, I think it is clear that a running QB raises the floor of your offense considerably and raises the ceiling a bit as well because they can turn busted plays into big gains and make the defense have to account for something else.

Both types can and will win games going forward.

I think the difference with those guys is that you don't really want to be designing a lot of runs for them, if any. They are kind of the "new normal" in terms of QBs.

I think even back in the day there were some really good QBs we would call pocket passers who were probably just as mobile as the three you listed, but boxes were way more stacked and you were getting hit by a 240-250lb linebacker without the protections players have now vs a 6'1 220LB guy who will get a flag if he hits you too hard.

The only time we see deep passes now is when the QB is scrambling to run and throws it as he crosses the line of scrimmage. DB leaves to make the tackle and they throw it over his head.

It’s a clown version of the sport.

The NFL is not College Football. Offenses and the way the game is played is drastically different.

That used to be true. NFL offenses are evolving to emulate college offenses. Go look at the 2015 Pro Bowl rosters loaded with statues like Tom Brady, Petyon Manning, Ben Rothlisberger, Tony Romo. Andrew Luck and Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck were more mobile and on those rosters. They would be the statues on the 2025 Pro Bowl Rosters with Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, Lamar Jackson, Jared Goff, Josh Allen and Sam Darnold. If all 6 of those QB's were avaialble in the 2025 NFL draft, what order would they be selected?

A good QB is a good QB regardless of if they can run or not. A good QB can't be a Drew Bledsoe level statue, they need to be able to move in the pocket, but let's not pretend only Michael Vicks are winning in this league.

Mahomes only runs when he has zero QB spy and a wide open field, I don't think that truly qualifies as a running QB.

I wouldn't consider either of these guys as statues, hell Brady and Peyton were perfectly able to navigate the pocket smoothly. Almost all the QBs you listed also had at least 10 years in the league at that point as well. I don't think Josh Allen is running as much in 2029 either.

And that's one reason the NFL product has gotten worse. NFL defenses are too fast.
