That simply said good riddance to Lincoln Riley. Our defense will be better and our offense won't miss him at all.

They don't have a QB. They haven't recruited a good QB in ages. Always had transfers come in like Baker and Kyler.

Not a good time for OU to start floundering with the move to the SEC in a two years. They could be looking at a 5+ year journey into the wilderness.

2019: Signed the #1 QB
2021: Signed the #2 QB
2023: Commitment from the #2 QB
That’s a dream scenario in theory. They were set up perfectly to keep infusing QB talent into the program after the 2017-2019 run of success with transfers. Every other year they were bringing in an elite QB.
Their problem isn’t that they haven’t been successful recruiting QBs.
2019: Spencer Rattler didn’t live up to the hype
2021: Caleb Williams followed Lincoln to USC.
2023: Lost the commitment when Lincoln left.
They also signed other QBs over the last 4-5 years to provide depth, including a couple of 4-star QBs. I think one is a freshman and at least two others have transferred and starting elsewhere.
They’ve signed a ton of QB talent recently. Unfortunately for them all that talent is scattered around the country playing at other schools.
