The Big Ten is 6-2 against the BE this year in Basketball FYI.

I don't understand Pittsburgh's motivation. Their football is good, but let's not joke around, they're a basketball school first and the Big East > Big Ten in basketball. Granted, I haven't checked the money trail, so I'm probably missing a crucial detail or ten.

The money gain from moving from the Big East to the Big-10 would be massive

And year in and year out, what are the best basketball conferences? It's the ACC and the Big East. The Big Ten is the best of the rest, but it's not on the same level.

Listen, all of the teams involved in this discussion are going to except an invitation if offered. The money they would gain by joining is too much to turn down. Its economics 101.

It would suck for the Big East. Which football program could they bring in as a viable replacement for Pitt?

When you have 20 teams of course you're going to be at the top. Pound for pound the Big10 is on par at least.

They could try to bring in Memphis, which could be a nice program at some point

Also, another viable option imo, would be to move up Villinova like they did with UConn, which clearly has been a success

That's all I'm saying. It's not a slight to the Big Ten - in fact, it's a compliment to be considered close to the BE in basketball, even if considered slightly worse. "Worse than the Big East in basketball"... you could do much worse.

Memphis I could see. It would make BE basketball even more awesomely competitive. Maybe East Carolina.

Doesn't there have to be a 1-2 year transition period? UConn's transition was incredibly fast.

There aren't a whole lot of good options for the Big East, unless they can somehow attract an ACC school.

The BE is screwed if the Big Ten brings in 3 teams and 2 of them are from the BE. What would happen to the BE in football?

As a casual ACC fan, I really wish the Big East will take Boston College back.

Everyone thought the Big East was dead after they got pillaged by the ACC and it bounced back nicely in only a couple of years

Big East basketball is awesome but their football isn't much better than the MAC.

They were one of the better football conferences last season.

Big East would likely take ECU, and UCF.

Sagarin, colley, and billingsly all had the Big East as the #2 ranked conference last year
