Both Pitt and Virginia Tech players will wear face coverings both on the field and sideline for their game tomorrow, in accordance with new guidelines released this week from Pennsylvania state officials. I believe this is the first instance of in-game face cover usage.
Oh my god.
Also reading that this could impact the NFL Steelers and Eagles games too.
This is madness.

This will go smoothly

ETA: They should just wear those cold weather face covering things that cover your entire head except your eyes

hahaha wow this is so dumb.
even after they've already tested negative/ avoided contact tracing....
they STILL have to do this madness
where is the science that necessitates this ??

Pretty sure this Has already been debunked.

if Drew Brees had to do this and lose the ability to kick his fingers, he'd be doomed!

I bet all those players vote straight democrat down the line too.

Steelers came out and pushed back it looks like, and talked about an exemption, but the Pennsylvania governor responded and did not agree...
quote:
The office of Gov. Tom Wolf said Thursday that the Pittsburgh Steelers have not been granted an exemption that would allow players to go without masks during games at Heinz Field for the rest of the 2020 season.
That contradicted a statement released by the Steelers on Wednesday that said the team had “received guidance from the Governor’s Office,” regarding an exemption from players “wearing masks during an NFL game.”

Should be interesting with the mouth piece
Posted on 11/20/20 at 12:32 pm to boXerrumble
What would they do if the teams don't? Have police officers come on the field and arrest everyone?
Posted on 11/20/20 at 12:35 pm to boXerrumble
The Steelers are going to win home field for the playoffs, but then the NFL will prevent them from hosting games with this stupid rule in place.

Not sure who's going to come out on top here...

The exception in Section 3 of the order does apply to players on the field, so players would not be required to wear face coverings while in the game.

I'm anxious to see this battle. People in many parts of PA, particularly Western PA, LOVE the Steelers at fanatical levels mirroring SEC football fandom. Couple that with the fact Pittsburgh is the best team in the NFL at the moment with a real shot at winning the championship and the fanbase will be apoplectic if they perceive the government is doing something to potentially frick that up
At some point enough people have to wake up to the absurdity of this entire situation. As silly as it sounds, for many in PA that red pill moment may be F'ing with the Steelers.

Those players shouldn't be told what they can and can't do. I'm standing up for them. This is America! Muh Freedom!
BUT SO HELP ME GOD LET ME SEE ONE OF THOSE BLACK PLAYERS KNEEL FOR THE ANTHEM.............

I got a ton of family there. It is just as football crazy as SEC country.

Sooooo looks like Va Tech and Pitt players in the game won't have to either, then?
