Foreign money is “free money” for the league because they get paid a lot for a minimal amount of effort, given that they are mainly selling off broadcast rights and doing little else.
Domestic money, including tickets, concessions, TV deals, radio deals, public appearances, etc, pay the bills.
Getting paid top dollar by China doesn’t help much if your domestic base is a major loss leader because of bad decision making.
