There is good reason the bastard was banned from the game.
And I don't put coke, steroids or amphetamines past Rose like many in the board do. A person with his competitive nature did everything in his power to try and gain a competitive advantage. Only a sick frick would bet on baseball as a manager and then lie about it for decades. We still don't know all the details on Rose's ban either.

Betting a couple of games against your team is not as severe as juicing.

I'm thinking about writing a book.
MLB- "Generations Lost"
Those numb nuts will never understand most of America already believes cheating occurs in sports every day. Pete Rose didn't invent the concept.

Let Pete in!!!
Its ridiculous its been this long already. For those of you opposed to him being in, get off your freaking high horse. There are WAAAAY worse individuals that are in the HOF. His HOF acceptance will finally close a chapter in baseball that millions want to see. His HOF induction will be the highest attended HOF ceremony ever. Let the man in already!

Did he ever bet against his team? I thought it was said that he always bet on the Reds?

Do you want to bet on pride or do you want a sure win?

I am not sure, so do correct me with the facts if I am wrong, but how exactly do we "know" that Rose only bet on the Reds? Are we going by his word only? If that is correct, then with Rose being a proven liar, why should we take his word on something this important? As for comparing his "crime" to the PED users: the ban on betting on baseball games is the #1 rule in MLB & has been for ever & ever. There is a sign in every ML clubhouse re betting. He broke the #1 Golden Rule. Then lied & lied & lied about it. And which proven PED users are in the HOF?

So, you think every player in baseball juicing would be worse than every player betting on games? I disagree.

I'm fine with this as long as it's posthumous

He's getting in this time, and here's why:
MLB to talk betting with owners
also, the all-star game is in cincinatti this year. Would be the perfect time to do it and not look like hypocrites.
Bet on it.

Worth noting that the HOF rule about people banned from MLB are ineligible for the HOF came about after Rose accepted his lifetime ban, just before he would have been placed on the ballot. That's kind of underhanded. Now, he should have known the ban would affect his HOF chances, considering Joe Jackson was never elected, but still.
Couple that with his transgressions occurring as a manager while he would be inducted as a player, and I think you can build a decent case that he should be in the HOF or at least that it shouldn't be out of the question.
As to the MLB ineligibility, Rule 21, part of which reads:
...has been posted in every MLB clubhouse for longer than Rose has been alive. He certainly can't plead ignorance on that one. Then he carried on the ridiculous denial charade for almost 20 years, camping out at the HOF during induction weekends. F him. The MLB ban should never be lifted.

he should be allowed in the hall of fame but still be banned from the game-coaching/managing, etc.

If McGwire can be in baseball, so should Pete.
Except steroids weren't outlawed when Mark played.
Gambling has always been outlawed and almost fricking ruined the game with the Blacksox scandal. Gambling is the biggest threat to the game and needs to be punished with a lifetime ban. Not a lifetime ban then feels sorry for hte piece of shite and let him in ban.
A life.time.ban.

That's so true. Those nerdy little jackholes who never played a lick but get to vote for the HOF probably wouldn't vote him in.
Before long the nerdy sabretards are gonna start using WAR as the end all be all for HOF worthiness. A man with 3000 hits will get left off some ballots because some defensive statistic didn't like him.

Even if it gets lifted there's still a chance he won't get voted in. 16 people didn't think Greg Maddux was a HOFer, and some voters voted for legends such as Jacques Jones, JT Snow, Aaron Boone and Armando Benitez....I wouldn't put anything by them

Using steroids is better than players throwing games.
