Talk about a classy man, and won more than he lost- SU really screwed up when they let him go. This program is headed down the wrong tracks. I used to talk with Pete at the Perkins/college Mcd's while he was eating his breakfast several times.

Stump is definitely classier and a better face for the program.

Pete Richardson is the black version of Pete Carroll. Everything that is wrong with college football.

How can they since they are still paying him

But seriously, I miss the good ol days going to the games and knowing Southern was the favorite to win the game.
It would be pretty cool if he ends up becoming AD since the job is vacant.

Stump may not have been a good decision but Pete was going through the motions in his last couple years. Despite what it might look like based on the fight Stump has tried to instill more discipline than Pete was doing. Lots of their problems, especially last year was players resisting that discipline.

The program was not improving under Pete. When Southern started losing to Prarie View in his days, things were not ending well.

That's not even the depth of their cheapness right now.

I think he could lose the rest of the games and stay just because they can't afford to buy out his contract.

SU athletics is an absolute train wreck, as is the entire university. With attendance dwindling big time at football games and with attendance non-existent at basketball games, they must be losing an arse-load of money.

i remember a while back i was listing to Max 94.1 in the morning and they had a caller call in and said "BR has so many talanted athletics that dont get a schlorship to go to a D-1 school, why are they not offered a ride to SU? But they bring in kids from other states."

excuse my spelling....my brain stops thinking at 10pm

I think SLU cut into this somewhat but mostly it's just crappy recruiting. They can't even lock down Southern Lab anymore because their ex-coach is at Alcorn.

That entire institution is shot through with incompetence. There's no hope for Southern.

It is a sad situation there. I know some folks in higher ed/higher ed administration. They blame a lot of it on Kofi Lomotey. They say he is not a smart man.

My main man Corch Caydoh is about the only bright spot on the Bluffs these days.

The athletic side is doing better than the academics.

Let's face it folks, an HBCU is not needed in 2011. That institution has been on a downward spiral for years. It will forever be propped up due to political correctness.

Towards the end under Pete, it seemed SU lost 10-15 players every year DURING fall camp because of grades, quitters, etc
what does 1-aa have? 60 schollies? you cant succeed losing 1/4 of your roster before the season starts
