PTI just quoting him saying this.
Who in their right mind would beleive Pete?

of course he left. But he is saying the right thing. He is not going to come out and say he left because USC did wrong, especially in light of the appeal. He makes an excellent point about the transcrips in the article (BR Advocate today). Minor portions have been posted here. I'd love to see the entire transcript.

SVP roasted Petey last Friday on his show about this topic

He's going to need to get another college job in a couple of years, so he can't just come out and admit that he cheated.

What is he supossed to say? If he comes out with the truth he completly screws over USC with their appeal and what college is going to hire a coach who does that to his former employer? (cause you know he's going to be looking for a new job in 3-5 years)

Agree. Everyone knows that he did cheat but by admitting it he will rule himself out of a college job. Which he will need after he fails yet again in the NFL.

How do the owner and players of the Seahawks feel now that the only reason he took the job was to get away from the mess at SC ? He didn't take the job because he thought he was ready for another shot at the NFL or because the Seahawks were a great opportunity, he took the job because it was the closest emergency exit. I'd imagine there has to be some second guessing going on in Seattle.

It looks more like that than it did before for sure
Before I figured he had a good run and was waiting for the right chance in the NFL
But if he's that good of a liar then wow - he projects more earnest bullshite than a car salesman

If we take the definition of cheating to mean breaking rules in order to gain an advantage, how did Carroll cheat?
Posted on 6/16/10 at 8:46 pm to Sophandros
allowed boosters to provide benefits
Posted on 6/16/10 at 8:56 pm to molsusports
He didn't do that, though.
He left USC because of the sanctions, but not because he cheated. He didn't gain any advantage for what Reggie did.
Tim Floyd cheated.

he likely new of an ineligible player (via his assistant coaches who knew) and still played him

why do you think an agent providing benefits to a player is against NCAA rules?
IMO they categorize them as boosters because it would be easy to see a "you scratch my back I'll scratch yours" relationship between a dirty coach and agent(s)
The coach would benefit because once word got out there was money to be had more players would come. The agent(s) would benefit because they get access to a group of highly talented players with limited competition from other agents
Carroll provided the access - because he was interested in letting them get to the players or because he didn't take teh rule seriously.

wait
when did the NCAA categorize agents as boosters?

The NCAA rules seem to be written so that functionally anyone who provides benefits to an athlete gets treated teh same as a booster
At least the local petropolas (sp?) guy who was an agent and providing summer jobs to USC kids with Carroll's knowledge seems like a flagrantly bad idea (flying in the face of NCAA rules)
And certainly when you have open practices, open locker rooms, and fraternize with the agents (as I guess Carroll did) then as soon as anyone actually hooks up with the players it becomes LOIC - because you provided the access
