It's a cult type place because the media said it and majority ran with it. The fan bases are.no different than Lsu or bama.

believe the NCAA is out to punish "the idea of bad things being covered up" which is about as fricking stupid as stupid gets. Again, Emmert and the NCAA are about to break their own record for ridiculousness. I would like to collectively bitch slap the entire organization.
ok, so you hate the ncaa. yet you offer nothing in it's place? are you one of these "free market" assholes that think there should be no rules? no regulations even? that, of course, is the definition of anarchy. you can throw out the ncaa and replace it with someother org. but what's the difference? THE FACT IS that the ncaa is comprised of member colleges. said colleges are free to leave at any time. the officials of the ncaa (per your hate of mark emmert) serve at the pleasure of these colleges and they can dump him anytime they wish. so what's your better idea?

And the criminal justice system has done that.

But WHY is it being punished by the NCAA? The people who were involved in the cover up are going to prison for a very long time/the rest of their lives. The criminal justice system has already punished those responsible. Now you're going to punish the school and the program for something that didn't involve a competitive advantage. And these sanctions are all based on a report that wasn't even put together by the NCAA.
It kind of makes college athletics as a whole look extremely bad. I take is as the administrators of PSU loved their football program so much that they were willing to cover this up so that it would not tarnish it's good name. You can't actively try and conceal a scandal of this magnitude in order to keep a football team in tact. When we as a society have reached that point, then we have no moral ground to stand on. He raped children and they covered it up. It sickens me that any parent would want their child to even play there after this. This is truly disgusting.

The people who permeated this cult are now dead or going to jail. Why eliminate the program when the problem has already been harshly dealt with?

Leaving family and friends, credits not transferring, learning new systems, lost internships, new coaches, etc. What happens when the Junior player transfers and only half of the credits are accepted?

And the people who allowed all of this to happen, who covered it up, are going to jail for the rest of their lives. The entire administration is in the process of being overhauled and reformed. There is no need to bring down an entire program when the problem is already being harshly dealt with by the criminal justice system.

They really just need to start over . take the death of the program and when the right time comes start it back up because no one is going to want to go there for years now.

They don't have to move, but they have the option.
Now why do you think all of this happen? It seems apparent that it was all to protect the football program. Months of research and reporting shows as much.
Look at the precious students trying to protect the statue. The protective mindset of the brand appears far from gone from the campus.
I'm not saying I have all the right answers, but the programs needs to take a hit, but the protection of the program was the driving force for covering up child rape

Football is a privilege. They were part of the cover-up 10 years ago at age 10. It's a culture.

All these lynchtards are going to be pissed soon. The NCAA is overstepping it's own rules(Not shocking, just like governments) to punish for criminal behavior. This opens the door for the NCAA to levy punishments upon players and coaches outside of NCAA rules. How many of you would be pissed if TM was suspended for the rest of the year or this year for synthetic pot last year?
Won't happen, there would have been previous precedent in the case of TM. In this case, there is no precedent where a University knowingly and repeatedly concealed horrendous criminal activity by the entire Athletic Program. No were previously is the precedent where the Administration and University officials aided in the continued facilitation of such criminal activity (Second Mile and PSU allowing use of facilities)
Take football out of the equation for a moment and look at what was going on.....

Eliminating a football program will do nothing to stop child rape.

Because a message has to be sent that this will NOT be tolerated now, or EVER! You can not allow people to do these type of thing and it not go unpunished. If the PSU board of directors had been doing their jobs, they would have got this taken care of when it started. The rumors were out there years ago. The chose to ignore them.

I hate Alabama as much as any other lsu fan, but that'd be ridiculous. Especially when you're talking this many years later.

Please don't post about anarchy, which is something you clearly don't know. As for solutions a mini NFL where the players are paid and not with a free education BS.

What was going on was truly disgusting and evil but the problem is already being dealt with. These men will be going to jail for an awfully long time, more than likely for the rest of their lives. If there's one thing worse than child rape it's the cover up of child rape. But the fact of the matter is the criminal justice system has already dealt a fatal blow to that particular culture at Penn State. All the NCAA is doing right now is pouring salt into a wound that is in the process of healing, all in the name of a lynch mob.
