Now answer the question. What is appropriate punishment for the UNIVERSITY WIDE COVER-UP FOR THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM?
Don't you know? He hasn't told you yet? It wasn't university-wide. It was just a few people and they've already been punished and everything at Penn State is good now. That FBI guy is just a liar.

I don't know. What did the courts decide was the punishment for Sandusky and the people who covered up his crimes?

What is your definition of "university-wide"? I'm guessing well over 99% of the students who went to Penn State and football players had no idea what was going on.

So no school should ever go on probation, because it punishes future players/students?

There is a difference between a school being punished for athletic misconduct and a school being punished by the NCAA for criminal misconduct. This whole thing is completely unprecedented and the fact that these penalties are based on a report that wasn't even conducted by the NCAA really disturbs me. This is a blatant expansion of power by the NCAA that doesn't bother most of you because of the circumstances. But this establishes a dangerous precedent that could come back to bite us all in the arse.

Im starting to feel that everyone against punishment may feel that their school of choice may have or may be covering up a scandal of equal significance.

hat? I was going to rape a kid but Penn State couldn't go to a bowl game for seven years so I'm going to think twice about it.

this has me and meat rolling

the fact that someone like morgan can't separate the actual crime from the institutional cover up says all I need to know about some folks.

People say that the kids there now don't deserve penalties but a lot of times coaches will cripple a program with sanctions and then leave, forcing the players to suffer.

Well, he was taking a big chance by ripping off his jersey and disowning him. I hope that doesn't come back to hurt LSU. I better keep defending Penn State just in case the Les/Mike situation becomes widely known.

Yeah, and the coaches will get jobs somewhere else and make good money.

The act of covering it up is being punished. They fact that what they were covering up was so disgusting makes it worse. The NCAA is not punishing the crime, they are punishing the cover up.

Exactly. The Penn State ATHETLIC DIRECTOR, for crying out loud, covered up for Sandusky to maintain the status quo of the football program. How is this NOT within the jurisdiction of the NCAA?

Thats why Bear said in his autobiography don't punish the school, start banning the players and coaches for life.

lighten up. i doubt this will be a dangerous precedent. the ncaa has the authority to punish it's members and it's gonna do it. simple enough. if certain members don't like it, they can GTFO. you can construct your bunker and load up on food, weapons and ammo if you like but i think you're being a bit paranoid.
