The one hire i didnt want. This guy doesnt like white people. I wont be putting any of my hard earned money towards a franchise who hires a divisive coach.

What’s Lebron’s take on Alvin Gentry being replaced by Stan Van Gundy?

He’s too preoccupied with his latest NBA title right now.

Idk what to think about this. Yes he achieved great success coaching the Heat and Magic almost 2 decades ago then when he coached the Pistons it was an abject disaster. I’m so tired of Nola being a second rate place where we never contend for top guys I mean we have the top draft pick and a core which could improve to contender caliber level, we should be perceived as a rising team to attract top coaches and we’re in Louisiana, our deals are way better moneywise than all those high tax places. I’m tired of us being relegated to offering and signing leap of faith guys, we’re never gonna reach that contender level hiring these people we just won’t.

And THAT my friends constitutes the mentality which guarantees that teams remain in neutral instead of improving themselves to higher levels

Not sure I agree. They’re not a perennial playoff team. SVG will get them over that hump.

more of a foundation builder for someone else to come in three or four years to take it over the top

How I feel about it too. We need a building block to get us to the next level

So the talent surrounding their current cornerstone is not a perennial playoff team? Explain how you reached this conclusion, please.

I’m talking about the coaching hire. This should be enough to build that foundation moving forward.

I thought he got kind of a raw deal in Miami because his last year they looked like the best team in the league but Wade and Shaq had injuries late in the season and they lost the conference championship in 7. It really came down to Pat Riley itching to get back on the sideline so Van Gundy was out.

At least I assume based on the LSU fan base that a pels fan leans way to right. I don't actually know any pels fans

probably the same amount of people at Pels games as there are in the seats during Falcons games (pre covid)

It’s not an inspired hire but I’m a lot happier about SVG than I was with Alvin Gentry.

Meh, if better than Gentry is the goal - you could've hired a bag of hammers.

Stan is enough to get you to the playoffs, but not good enough to keep Zion off the Lakers/Knicks literally the second he can force a trade.
Who the hell would want to go to the Knicks? Also, Zion would not be the man in LA, behind LeBron, AD and potentially some other guys.

Yeah I see him as the guy before the guy, a guy that will instill discipline, conditioning, defense to a young team and get them eventually into the postseason consistently, before they hire their Nick Nurse type to lead them to what they hope is the next level. He's 61 years old on a 4 year deal, so its not a forever move.

This exactly. They needed a teacher to get those young guys to the next level.
