A: Running and swimming is exercise.
B: Yeah but those are sports.
That's the level of intelligence we're dealing with.
Let me simplify it for you....
Track events are sports. sprints, hurdles, shot put, decathlon, etc. are sports.
Swim meets are sports...freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, breast stroke of varying distances. That's sports.
You can run and/or swim to exercise to get in shape or stay in shape.
Running is the basis of the big 3 sports for exercise to get in shape. Yet there are track meets (sports) held all over the place. Sporting events
So running and swimming are both sporting events (when meets are held) and exercise.

And you're not willing to use the same analysis for crossfit?
You're a special kind of stupid. The kind that thinks they are right despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
ETA: Clearly fits the universally-accepted definition of sport, yet still not a sport.

Laugh all you want but the base of crosscult or any exercise routine is from track & field. Only one of the oldest, if not the oldest, sporting events in history. The base of any exercise is some form of running- distance or sprint. And sprint drills. The very thing football, baseball, and basketball players use today.
weakmind has your back though.

That's great and very well true. Unfortunately, none of that does anything to show crossfit isn't a sport. Ironiclally enough, you seem to insinuate that crossfit isn't a sport because the base of its movements are derived from track and field, and then point out how the base of track and field has been used in the main three sports as well. All in the same post. Remarkable really
I can tell I may not be dealing with the sharpest knife in the drawer, so I'll try to use words and logic that someone of your intelligence might understand.
Crossfit events are sports. Cleans, Jerks, Snatches, runs of varying distances, swims of varying distances, programmed workouts done for time. That's sports.
You can crossfit to exercise to get in shape or stay in shape.
Running, body weight movements, and weightlifting are the basis of the big 3 sports for exercise to get in shape. Yet there are crossfit events held all over the place, using these exercises. Sporting events.
So crossfit is both a sporting event (when meets are held) and exercise.

Crosscult is a derivative of sporting events(sprints/running/swimming/Olympic lifting), it's not a sport. It's exercise only.
Football, baseball, basketball use sprint drills, running and lifting as exercise, it's not their sport. It's exercise. They use the derivatives of said sports to get in shape. That's it. That's crosscult....exercise. And the "games" are about exercise, being fit, that's it.

Nailed it.

Don't bother, Taurus hates crossfit so much he is in every single crossfit thread ever posted here calling it "crosscult" about a hundred times. You'd almost think he was a closet crossfitter or something. Or just a douche.

A Crossfit competition is basically a decathlon/olympic weightlifting/gymnastics hybrid.

A crossculter cannot compete in a decathlon or olympic lifting or gymnastics at all. No way in hell. I really wish one would try. Or try football or basketball or baseball. cc'ers might be good at bodybuilding though.

Lots of professional male gymnasts do Crossfit.

It's simple.
IF: an event has a 'winner'
AND: the winner needs roids to win
THEN: it's a sport.

Annnnnnndd????
I see pro football players doing crosscult, but I'm not talking pro athletes using cc as a training program, I'm talking a cc'er that is not pro in anything trying to make it in sports.
The weightlifter mentioned above was in that sport before doing cc. It's a training program used to help with her sport.

Well they are a pro in crossfit because if they win the crossfit games they earn roughly $250,000

You said this.
And my point is apparently they can if gymnasts do Crossfit. Not every Crossfitter is the average Joe.
