I stopped going to Falcons games years ago because of fan behavior. Lot's of heavy drinking, swearing and lewd behavior with obnoxious interactions between jersey wearing fan bases.

I honestly think that’s a cultural thing. Saints games specifically, I mean. We Louisianans are a hospital bunch and can generally hold our liquor and have a good time. There will be some inevitable back and forth ribbing/shite-talk, but it’s usually in good fun. We are happy drunks. In a welcoming city. We are party people, and a Saints game in is just a huge party with 70,000 of our closest friends. Of course we are die hard and love the Saints and want them to win as much as anybody, but at the end of the day(game), it’s not that serious. Some of these other fan bases are actually insane. It’s wild.

And fwiw, I would absolutely wear a Saints polo or hat to an away game. But never a jersey. As a grown man, I wouldn’t wear a jersey anywhere. But it does say something about you, rightly or wrongly, if you not just wear one at home, but to an opposing team’s stadium. I always pay attention to groups of drunk men wearing visitors jerseys and just make sure I’m aware of them. Not that I’m “scared” of them, just that that level of rabidity is a bit suspect, and I don’t want to get caught up in any shenanigans. Tomfoolery, perhaps, but definitely no shenanigans.

Maybe. But I used to watch a lot of Louisianans brawling in Tiger Stadium 15, 20, 25 years ago. I don't think the culture has changed that much since.

Saints games are different. Yes, the fans are passionate. But I don't see a lot of almost fights. If anything, it's kind of refreshing to see what looks like the most ghetto black guy happily getting along with what is probably some pompus Northshore white woman. Both are having a good time partying and cheering on their team. That's why when the Saints won the Super Bowl you didn't see mass destruction of the city. You saw a lot of people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate.

Juxtapose that with a regular season Padres v Dodgers game I attended this past summer. In the grand scheme of things it was a largely meaningless game in July. It wasn't the playoffs and the Padres weren't a contending team. Yet, a group of people in front of me damn near got into a fight after the Dodgers came back to take the lead. Worse, no one around them seem to think a potential fight was ridiculous. In fact, there were some looking to join in before cooler heads prevailed.

I was being a bit silly with my language. But New Orleans is different than Baton Rouge. Its economy is based almost exclusively on tourism and hospitality. It’s an international city. Baton Rouge, though very hospitable in its own right, is not the same. And I’d imagine the participants of those fights you’ve witnessed skewed a good bit younger than the average Saints game goer.

But I admit, this is mainly just my perception and theory. I haven’t been to very many NFL games not in New Orleans or Dallas.

He fricked around and found out

Also, this wouldn't happen in a small town.

I hope no drunk fans urinated on the EMTs (this happened during a MNF game years ago in the old Foxborough Stadium).

When will people realize life isn't the movies.

You sucker punch someone or just punch someone outside of a ring and they have a massive possibility of smashing their head on the concrete, floor, etc...and dying... And now you're in Shawshank for manslaughter.

I may only go to 1-2 games a year but there was a period of time in my younger days I went to 3-4 a year. Never seen a fight during a game, I can’t even recall a verbal confrontation.

I’ve only ever seen one. Plenty of shite talking and patrons being escorted out but only one actual brawl. The franchises with the most cholo fans are the ones where you see a fight make the rounds every week. The Dome is one of the handful of nfl stadiums that’s a worthwhile visit for away fans.

If you can't control your emotions to the point where you beat someone to death over a football game, you should be put down like a rabid dog. Dolphins fan is a waste of everyone else's oxygen.

Really, really sad to lose one's life over an argument about a football game.

Saints games could be a case study on racial as well as peaceful harmony. I have been to 25-30 games and never seen a racial incident, and have never even witnessed people having to be separated, much less a fight. It is bordering on being a statistical anomaly for lack of frickery (in the stands anyway). I even had a very large black man offer 12 year old me a hit off his blunt at a preseason game in the '70s. My dad politely declined on my behalf while taking my turn in the rotation.

I did apparently try to fight numerous inanimate objects in the concourse of the 300 level at the conclusion of the Rams NFC championship game, but I refuse to acknowledge any memory of that day. And that frickin nacho machine had it comin.

I went to an Eagles @ Falcons game a few years ago. There were Philly fans fighting each other in the parking lot even after they won.

You have to be an idiot to go to an Eagles game in visitors team apparel. Maybe at Lincoln Financial, but never at the Vet. Professional sports fans in the Northeast are the worst.

Problem with Falcons games is the between the city being half transplants and easy air access to the city, the stadium is loaded with “away” fans.

I’ve been saying this…NFL stadiums need to designate certain sections in the stadium for opposing teams. I absolutely hate going to NFL games where fans are mixed in together.
Or people could just realize it’s just a GAME. But this is the NFL we’re talking about.

I know I’m asking a lot.
