He still has to go through the protocol though, but he already passed all the concussion tests

quote:

“The thought is that he will be okay. Right now, he’s in the concussion protocol. You see him having a hard time getting up and walking there. That’s more so because they are saying it was almost like he was choked out, which I know a thing or two about. Not so much a concussion but he still has to go through the concussion protocol. He was trying to get himself back in this game, though, so there’s a lot of confidence that he’ll be able to go next week.”

Yeah I saw no hit to head and wondered how everyone thought it was concussion.

I thought the same when it happened. Defender seemed to have him in a “sleeper”.

Was an odd reaction to not being hit in the head for sure.

Maybe, but it could also be PR because they really need him to play next week

That protocol usually doesn’t take long if they don’t have a concussion. He was out for a full quarter

He cleared protocol during the game yesterday. The chiefs chose to keep him out

Good info. That means he definitely didn’t have a concussion then, nobody passes concussion protocol that quickly if they have one. Surprised they chose to keep Mahomes out on the final drive

I think seeing your player have a foot injury, then look like he gets knocked the frick out makes one nervous to put them back in game

The hit didn't look like it would be a concussion but him being wobbly as he tried to stand up probably led them there.

NFL protocol says any "concussion like symptoms", puts you in the protocol. So he def needed to get screened. Media was just typical lazy reporting it as a definite concussion though

Where have you seen that he cleared protocol during the game?

Ian Rappaport was on NFL Network earlier this morning and said Mahomes is still in the protocol.

I watched the replay several times, it looked like a combination of his forehead being driven into the turf and then his chin was slammed down into his chest.....When he got up wobbly that was definitely the look of a person who just got their bell rung real good. He couldn't stand without help and he had a hard time walking off the field unassisted. Awhile later Mahomes was seen running into the locker room, I hope he's good to go in the AFC Championship or it's not gonna the matchup most people wanna see. Let's see, Mahomes vs Allen or Henne vs Allen?
