No revenue sport will ever get the death penalty again after what happened to SMU.

In theory, yes. It would take a massive scandal to even consider it.

Doesn’t mean that Louisville won’t get the Dave Bliss treatment where they have only conference games for a season, no tourney, and reduced schollies. That’s a killer for a one and done school.

I thought it was funny that someone on the rant posted "who knew that Bobby Petrino had the most integrity of any Louisville coaches".

So many head coaches are going to get fired, IMO.

These assistant coaches always fall on the sword, and the head coaches always just say "oh I had no idea that was going on."

This is a federal investigation. Department of Justice. These assistant coaches will rat on the head coaches in a heartbeat.

Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino should be gone, a gilded career ending in disgrace.

Couldn't happen to a better person.

UL has to be the only place that can hire Petrino and not have him be the sleaziest coach on campus.

They certainly deserve the death penalty. Major violation while on probation? Good gracious. At least 3 years with no post-season.
Forget the SMU stuff - that's football and SMU racheted up their academic standards for recruiting because of the scandal. Louisville certainly won't do that.
Look at Tulane - we gave ourselves the DP and reached the NCAAs in 3 years. What hasn't recovered at Tulane is football - because of the basketball scandal we got rid of PE major, racheted up the standards in football, but the President trusted Perry Clark, so he let him recruit in basketball whomever he wanted as long as they met minimum NCAA standards. The new Pres came in and essentially gave Clark the heave-ho and we've sucked ever since.
Louisville would make the NCAAs in its first year back.
