They requested information about the relationship between the Pryor and Sarniak. I just assumed that meant emails between the two.
Just about every 'assumption' you have made so far has been proven wrong in this thread. Maybe you should take a break.

Now you're causing KC a liar because he's debating you in a thread? Dude, seriously, frick off.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt at first but read this thread.....he kept repeating over and over and over that the AP asked for Pryor's own emails records when he was corrected multiple times and the article said this didn't happen. He crossed the line from ignorance to dishonesty.

These aren't student records. They are emails and are governed under different laws than the ones you imply.

I really don't think anything is spelled out about a student's relationship with a mentor. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's a gray area.
Even if it was a gray area......isn't this a time when Ohio State should error on the side of transparency?
What is your gut telling you? If the info is harmless - why hide it?

I admitted I misread the article.
I'll do it again, I misread the article.

Why give anything to the AP when you know they are trying to spin it in the most negative way possible for Ohio State? And don't tell me they would print a story saying that Ohio State did a really great thing giving us this information and how transparent they're being.

Here is an example of why you are wrong:
LINK
quote:
Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee sent an e-mail to Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany on April 20 saying that he had spoken with Texas President William Powers. "I did speak with Bill Powers at Texas, who would welcome a call to say they have a 'Tech' problem," Gee wrote in an e-mail that was among several obtained by The Dispatch through a public-records request for documents and correspondence related to Big Ten expansion proposals. Texas Tech is one of Texas' rivals in the Big 12 conference. Ohio State officials declined a Dispatch request to explain the "Tech" problem. "Public record laws do not require us to provide further clarification on meaning," OSU spokeswoman Amy Murray said in an e-mail. "While a few of the e-mails are cryptic, we aren't obliged to provide additional explanation."
So Ohio State is admitting that Public Record laws require them to turn over emails but not to have to explain them.

Perhaps it's harmful in a way that has no effect on the NCAA troubles. Perhaps the internal emails say nothing but that Sarniak is a self-righteous a-hole and that Pryor is the biggest prima donna/douchbag in the world. Not exactly communications a coach would want to make public.
God only knows what information is there.

This is silly.
If the emails are harmless, there is no way to spin them.
If the email display unethical behavior, they don't need to be spun.
Again, this isn't a witch hunt. Tressel has already been proven, beyond any argument, to be a very dishonest man. Since he gets paid with taxpayer $, we have a right to know just how dishonest he is.......
Posted on 5/27/11 at 4:27 pm to Dr Drunkenstein
I've never used the words witch hunt to describe this.
That would mean that I think that witches have been discovered because Ohio State obviously fricked up.
Like was said before by VA, who knows what's in those emails.
If they are damaging, let the NCAA handle it in a non-public way for the university to save face. Maybe as VA said they contain things that aren't worded the best way that could cause internal issues but aren't NCAA violations. There are a number of reasons why OSU wouldn't want these emails out going from trying to save face, to just not wanting to give the AP anything at all.

Even where the protections remain under the ECPA, emails lose their status as a protected communication in 180 days, which means a warrant is no longer necessary and your emails can be accessed by a simple subpoena.
So, the way I read the law (and this is the law) is that if you want my emails after 180 days you have to subpoena them. You can't simply ask for them and I have to turn them over. If the AP can get a subpoena they can have the emails. It's as simple as that.

The article says the emails are between Tressel and Ohio State administrators. That is it. No emails to and from Pryor. No emails to and from Sarniak.
If this is the case then you have really have to wonder if the e-mails point to Coach Tressel informing athletic department officials about what he knew regarding potential issues. If that's the case then I don't know how tOSU avoids an LOIC finding. I don't blame them for wanting to hide this from the NCAA. Having said that, my gut tells me the NCAA finds/doesn't find what it wants to find/not find and I'm always skeptical that they REALLY want to get to the bottom of any investigation into a sacred cow Big Ten program. Look for the NCAA to take all this out on Mississippi State instead.

The head coach has already been proven to have hid stuff from the NCAA and the entire tOSU administration has lined up to a man to voice support for Tressel so I'm not sure why you find that ridiculous.

This article, which you referenced as "this", is referring to the associated press NOT the NCAA.
