Ok let me rephrase that.
The media is going to make this the biggest story since Trayvon Martin. If the roles were reversed you wouldn't hear a peep.

Better?

I just listened to the 10 minute audio recording...

I don't even get his argument.

Basically what I got from it is he says that he doesn't hate black people personally. And his girlfriend can associate with black people all she wants... just not in public. She said well you associate with black people. And he said well I'm not you. And he was saying it's not about him it's about the rest of the world and their perceptions about her being associated with black people.

It's almost as if he thinks the world is going to think less of him if his girlfriend is seen with black people.

I don't even get it.

Lebron's comments...

quote:

"If the reports are true, it's unacceptable," James said. "It's unacceptable in our league. It doesn't matter if you're white, black, Hispanic, whatever, all across the races, it's unacceptable."

"I've kind of wavered back and forth if I would actually sit out," James said. "If our owner would come out and say the things that he said, I would really have to sit down with my teammates and talk to my family because at the end of the day, our family and our teammates are way more important than that. Basketball is huge. Obviously, the playoffs have been unbelievable and I hate the fact that something like this has to come out. The playoffs have been unbelievable. The game of basketball continues to grow. There's no room for Donald Sterling in our league. There's no room for him."

Meanwhile Michael Jordan checks to see if Sterling has Nike stock before commenting

I want to know which of Sterlings friends (A) tracks his side piece on instagram to know what she was doing and (B) thought pics of her with black people was something worth telling him about.

Sterling needs to pick better friends. If my friends were tracking my 25 year old mistress on the internet I sure as hell wouldn't think they were doing it to look out for me. They trying to get in her pants too.

If you really "own" the team what rights do you have to keep owning the team?

Including Magic Johnson. He should have told her to stay away from those dirty arse Lakers.

Those "rights" are probably spelled out in the contracts owners sign when purchasing their teams and maybe subsequent agreements with the league.

They sure as hell can't kick him out of the league. . . He owns

I'm sure there is language in the agreement that says otherwise.

I'm guessing, but I'd imagine there are obvious provisions.

As a believer in tolerance, and a warriors fan, I believe the Clippers should boycott.

I've gone back and forth on this myself, which is leading me to the conclusion that whatever the Clippers do it is their choice.

I could empathize with either decision and since I'm not the one who would face the consequences of that decision I'll be ok with what they decide.

If they did have that language in the agreement, they would have forced him to sell after that housing lawsuit a few years back

Just a complete guess, I'd imagine there's some sort of "conduct detrimental" language and the other owners could vote him out in some fashion.

Take the hypothetical to the extreme, there's no way he could come out and hold press conferences saying he hates black people and wishes Chris Paul was white blah blah blah.

Now maybe this incident wasn't enough, but I'm sure there's a way to get him out if necessary, there just has to be, logically.

There is absolutely zero chance in Hell the Clippers boycott.

I'm curious to know what, if anything, is addressed in the ownership agreement.

Off to google and see what I can find

Oh I agree.

I'd love to see(zero chance, I know) the Clippers AND Warriors hold some sort of boycott, even if for just 1 night.

The thing is, the NBA in no way could come down hard on the players, the backlash would be pretty hard against the NBA, so the players are in a great spot to do so, IMO.
