One of the dirtiest hits on a referee in awhile; UPDATE 20 game suspension

Minimum suspension for abuse of official is 20 games in NHL. Willing to bet it's a lot more than that.
Ref was down for a few minutes but it's hockey and he got up and finished the game.

Wideman is a funny last name. Dude should've been a goalie.
Or is that a hockey position?

Watching the game now. The Flames were called for 4 or 5 penalties in the 2nd and he had just taken a massive hit from a Predator. Frustration maybe? Not sure why he decided to do it.

Lifetime ban worthy IMO

Mandatory 20 game ban minimum for abusing the ref. If that doesn't qualify for abusing a ref I don't know what does.

Both are tPOS that should be dealt with accordingly. I think he should sit the rest of the year to give no one any ideas

I think criminal charges for battery should be instituted against the player. It's easily arguable that he's got the appropriate actus rea and mens rea.

Ban that bitch. Ref could have just as easily hit his head on the boards and this could have been alot more severe.

That is super fricked up. Could have ended that officials career.
