i say we make the official watch party at rotolos on nicholson. i think they have like $5 pitchers domestic, $7 pitchers imports, and $3 bomb shots...so that means $3 car bombs!!!

It's going to be a great day of hockey. All 6 teams are serious medal contenders and this is going to go a long way in determining who ultimately advances to the medal rounds. I think Finland is going to beat Sweden. I've been high on them since before the tournament and they've played extremely well. Considering the rivalry and talent, it should be a close one. I expect the Russians to edge out the Czechs, possibly by 2 goals. I think the Czechs match up well, but Russia is going to be hungry and perhaps a little desperate so it's going to be especially tough. Canada/U.S. is a tough one to call. I think the U.S. has a big upset in them this tournament, but I see it coming in the knockout stages. I hope I'm wrong, but I expect Canada to win by a few goals. All three of these games could legitimately go either way; it's such a deep and talented field. It's going to be a lot of fun to watch.

Normally i would defer to my southern neighbours hockey accumen and though i agree with you on the Can/US front I believe the Czechs who also hate the Russians will make this a closer game than some think. The Czechs were my upset pick of the tourney, I wonder if the Slovaks beat them to it....

I have to agree. I think (hope!) that Finland and Russia win, giving the US a bye win or lose. I think the final standings will be:

That would actually be a pretty good draw for the US. They would get the Czechs a day after their game with Latvia, then have to pull an upset against the Finns (doable) to meet Russia or Canada for the gold! Even with a loss to the Finns, they would still play for a medal.
