I think the chain broke and they had the first down line marked wrong on the field. The refs can't see the yellow line.

The word you're looking for is fairweather, not bandwagon. They've always sucked and were probably basketball fans but now they're good so fans are showing up at the gridiron now. It's been nearly 60 years since Indiana went to a Rose Bowl. So yeah their fans are gonna show up for this.
