Why the frick is it not reviewable? An why the duck does he get penalized for challenging that?!?!?

The idea is that teams aren't supposed to benefit from an illegal act. It sucks in the execution, though.

I don't understand.

Why do the refs do this?
How is throwing a redundant flag "unsportsmanlike conduct?"

How in the world does that make even an iota if sense?

I still don't understand why Detroit couldn't challenge that play?

Falcons got hit with this shot last year but it didn't cost them.

Rule or not, it's a really dumb rule. Getting the call right should be the most important thing.

Great rule. Otherwise throw the flag all the time on scoring play.

Because its a scoring play and all scoring plays are automatically reviewed

It was wrong of them not to blow the play dead though.

Not really. It is almost always better to let the play continue if the refs aren't sure. Replay is supposed to be able to fix it though, and that rule is hysterically terrible.

That is an ATROCIOUS rule whether the coach is in the wrong or not. I rarely watch NFL games anymore and it seems like every time I do, there's some kind of BS catch in the rule book that results in a major play that shouldn't happen.

I think getting the call right is the most important thing. Give them 15 yards for throwing the challenge flag but at least review the stupid call the blind officials missed on the field.

I'm just blown away by that rule? How would the lions have benefitted from him throwing the challenge flag if they were going to review it anyway?
What a stupid stupid stupid fricking rule

getting the call right is important, but you cant just change a rule in the middle of the game.

Because its like using an extra challenge and trying to alert the booth when it's their Job to do it anyway. It disturbs flow of game. No need to change rule as noone will ever make mistake again

I've seen coaches throw challenge flags before and the ref go over and say its non reviewable and game continues.

Is throwing a challenge flag automatic 15 now?
