an just to make sure, you know Miles won at Okie St too right? and at LSU? and has beaten Meyer in a couple classic games?
Miles didn't really win at Oklahoma State his best team was 9-4 which would get you canned at any of the top 25 programs if you do that consistently. And yes I'm aware Miles beat Meyer a couple of times, but Meyer has also beaten Miles if I recall. And Meyer took an extremely young football team to death valley in 2007 and almost came out with a W against the eventual national champs.
Edit: And Meyer thoroughly outcoached Miles in this game too. LSU had way more experienced talent and they needed what 5 4th down conversions to win? I know they did it but the gameplan by Meyer was very well drawn up.
Meyer went undefeated at Utah and finished 22-2 there in 2 years and went 17-6 at Bowling green before doing what he did in the SEC for 5 years. Meyer has proven he can win and win big everywhere he's been. So why wouldn't I like that in my coach.
I personally hate him but professionally there's really only 1 coach in the country i'd take over him, and he's a scumbag too

aiight I hear you. I wouldn't want Urban anywhere near LSU but I get it.
Ppl down here are different. Not saying better or whatever but majority of LSU people wouldn't accept some of that stuff Meyer does
story today about some national "test". Tea is being given away at high traffic locations around the country. Free or donate a dollar. IMO kinda shows the difference of ppl around the country....Everyone in NOLA left a dollar for the tea.....Cleveland not so much
just sayin

A guy like Miles is much healthier for your program than Meyer is in a ton of different ways
that certainly goes both ways.

If you have that link i'd appreciate it; sounds interesting.
And I understand that people like Miles on an LSU site I just personally would take Meyer based on on-field performance. Off the field i think I've made my feelings known...

Ask this question in about 4 or 5 years when he's gone.

we're not talking third down calls here brother
very very rare you see a LSU fan complaining about Les Miles off the field .....like never that I know of

He's still the second best coach in college football behind Saban, imo.

See I agree with this, but LSU fans hate that he's not winning even more. I know he's been great, but his 1 NC was a backslide in while losing to inferior teams and his team was unprepared to do anything on offense other than the option, and I knew Bama would stop that...
I think they're both top 10, and reasonable people can disagree

I disagree I actually think both are top 5.
I damn sure can't think of 5 coaches that I would rather over meyer or miles.

Guys I could see being over them and who I like a lot as coaches:
Saban...obviously
The rest are coaches who I think could get results like Miles/Saban/Meyer if they got/wanted the job:
Patterson
Fitzgerald
Petersen
Golden - I still like the guy and think he's a hell of a coach
Now those guys haven't proven it but if I asked you if you'd take Miles or Meyer over Lloyd Carr or Bob Stoops in 2003 you'd laugh at me

CUM made Alex fricking Smith the NFL's #1 overall Draft choice. Enough said.
no, its not "enoguh said" Alex Smith was drafted #1 overall in part, because of his stats, but also because of his measurables. If pro scouts only cared about stats, why wasn't Brees drafted higher? Chang? Jason White? Shall I continue...

everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would not take him over: Miles, Patterson, Peterson or Stoops. There's another handful of young guys I like, but haven't done enough yet, like Hoke.

and excellent recruiter
probably, but some of his classes at Florida were not as good as advertised. A combo of guys getting in trouble and not sticking around (Newton, Jenkins) and some flat out misses. Seemed to spend too much time trying to recruit nationally and not enough at home imo.

Then you'd be wrong. Not that UM isn't a great coach, cause he is, but so is Les and Unlike UM, Les has proven he can maitain a program at an elite level.
Its staggering how people will claim Les won with Sabans's players, but give Meyer credit for winning with Zook's.

Stupidity, Really?!? I wonder what Meyer would've done if his team was down 21-0 in the NC? I think he would go to plan B
Meyer lost to Alabama and Saban in the 2009 SEC CG by a score of 34-13. You will note 2 things A) thats a 21 point margin B) he did not change QB's. That game was for a spot in the BCS CG, so the stakes were close enough.

Meyer has just done it more places successfully to deny he's an outstanding coach
No one is denying he's an outstanding coach, but so is Les Miles.
As I noted, Miles has done what Meyer so far has not, which is maintain a program.

So i can give you 2006 winning with Zook's players, but what about 08? And does winning 2 SECCGs and going to another not count as maintaining a program?
Miles had a bad year 2 years ago comparable to Meyer in 07 when they lost to Michigan in the Cap 1 in Carr's last game. Even in 07 he won 9 games. Why has Miles sustained a program better?
What does it take for you to "sustain"
