Completely agree. I have all the respect in the world for guys that hit the trail every year.

I’d probably lose my mind the first month over some 2 star who thinks he’s God’s gift to football.

Come on. At worst, they're trading their time.

You're arguing that they should get paid for what is effectively a job interview.

yall are right but a college AD is not the person to complain about tacked on fees and paying to play.

it only a matter of time before TAF is charging to post on the tiger rant.

These players need a Bama, Ohio St, Michigan much more than the school needs them.

You think schools will band together when it comes to recruiting? Yikes, I cant see it. Ohio St and Mich ain't working together.

There have been a lot of convos of this happening with Jeremiah Smith down in Florida who has visited FSU like 5 times. He apparently gets between 5-10k just to go for the weekend.

I guess it can work for you, but it's also spending a ton of money if someone doesn't end up at your school.

Where is that money coming from? I don't think it should in any way be NIL related right?

I am not so sure about that. Ohio State makes up ~15% of the NFL players that come from the big 10. Iowa/UM/PSU each are another ~10-13%.

That 2-5% difference in talent is why they dominate the conference.

All of these schools hate each other, at least the boosters, there is no way they would ever be able to form a cartel to control the labor market when there is such a thin line between good and elite. Whatever handshake agreement they'd do would fold faster than the alliance when a 5 star QB asks for a little more cash.

It's actually 21%. One school out of 16 makes up 21% of the players from the conference in the NFL. It's a larger disparity than you thought.

I can’t imagine throwing millions and millions of dollars at high school kids just so your school can win.

What exactly do you get out of it? Bragging rights?

I could understand it for buildings and naming rights. But spending it on some ungrateful knucklehead 17 year old? I just don’t get it.

In reality he's just outing a practice that's been going on for years. It's quite known that these kids have been compensated for the countless "unofficial" visits they take on a yearly basis. Pardon me if I don't feel one iota of sympathy for these schools.
Lane Kiffins brother in law flat out got caught for this in the Tennessee violations in the aftermath of that staff being there that fateful season.

Handlers have been doing this for a while now and I don’t think it’s a big issue especially when you consider on unofficial visits the recruits parents are responsible for paying for most of that trip.
