It's not about Notre Dame.
I just want someone who has a shot to beat Bama.
Whether it's a Pac 12 team or anyone else in the country.
If ND were another team, I'd have the same feeling. That ND team as constructed feels like a lock title for Bama.

out of the teams left with a chance to play for the title, ND is the only one with a defense capable of slowing the Bama running game (whether that can be done, no one knows, but they have the best chance)
Oregon was intriguing, but Kstate would have gotten slaughtered. Frickin Baylor gashed them for over 300 rushing.
Who do you think would have had the best chance to beat Bama this year? (and for the record, I do not even think Bama is some world beater either; watching the LSU and A&M games tell us that much)

name a year it hasnt gotten the top 2 right. it does have its flaws but it always gets the top 2 in there
You could argue 08, potentially 06 (longshot since UF destroyed OSU), 04, 03, 11. There were arguments to be made in all of those years before the game was played
So that's about half the time I'd say

#2 one in '11 and '03. try again homes.

I assume you're saying the #2 team won the national title...which doesn't matter for my argument. USC was a top 2 team in 2003, and Oklahoma State had a better resume than Bama last year...so those are years there was an argument about if they got the top 2 teams in there

LSU isn't really one dimensional anymore.

where do ppl get these ideas?
Davaris Daniels - 4 star
TJ Jones - 4 star
Davonte Neal - 5 star
Chris Brown 4 - star
(the above have pro potential)
Notre Dame doesn't have proven, elite skill players out wide. If you believe otherwise you're crazy. They have potential, and if they'd signed Diggs last year I'd expect them to beat Bama, but they will have problems stretching the field against the Tide.

Nobody hates Bama as much as I do, but come on now. None of those teams you mention, plus the "etc" easily score 30 on them.
And, by the way, they did play A&M who not only didn't easily score 30 on them, they didn't score 30 at all.
A&M played them in BDS and scored 21 straight points. All of the abovementioned offenses are better than Baylor's. Put them at a neutral site and 30 is a given IMO.

Give me a fricking break.
A&M had Johnny Football, who was a big-time mobile threat. That's the reason that makes him so hard to defend, because you really can't rush the passer.
Would all the teams you listed have a shot? Of course. A given? El oh el.
Clemson would have a shot, as they have a QB who can move, too. And they've scored 30 points on every team they've played this season besides Auburn (who sucks, but it was the first game).
Baylor would have a shot. Although, they failed to score 30 two times this season against Big XII defenses.
I mean, every good defense A&M has played this season, they have started off the game fast, until that defense adjusted a little (Florida, LSU, Alabama). The only difference is Alabama got behind too far.
A&M didn't score 30 against Alabama, and they have the biggest playmaker in the country. On a neutral site, of course there's a chance teams could put up 30 on Alabama. But in no way, shape, or form is it a given.

The reason Alabama couldn't rush the passer against Texas A&M is because they have no pass rushers. It's arguably the most glaring difference in their defense this year. They blitzed all day against LSU and an immobile Mettenberger behind a patchwork OL had all day to throw.

Tajh Boyd is less mobile than Manziel but more accurate and experienced. He also has 10x better skill players. Against traditional Alabama defenses Clemson's OL might struggle, but, like mentioned above, Alabama has no pass rushers this year and Boyd would pick them apart IMO.

As I mentioned in another thread, this is due to these defenses seeing spread offenses each week. SEC defenses get spoiled by never having to see this style of attack.
Maybe the words "given" and "easily" were misconstrued. I didn't mean they could walk out there hungover as piss and not punt all game. They'd surely have some drives that stalled and some periods where they looked human (like A&M did), but assuming those teams play up to their potential I have no doubt they'd score 30.
Now this isn't saying Bama would get killed. Bama would make those defenses look like middle schoolers and would likely beat them, but those offenses would do just fine against this year's Bama D. Last years? Not so much.
