Forget the fact that they are in different gendered segments of competition… the ball the women use is 1in smaller in diameter. Imagine how many more baskets Pete could have made with a smaller ball . Or conversely, how many less points Clark would score if she had to shoot a larger ball. The fact the ball is a different size completely eliminates any argument that they should be compared.

Its circumference is an inch shorter and diameter is half an inch.
Do you know how big a difference that is? When we played around with them in high school, it was hard not to miss any wacky shot. Its the basketball they give to boys 12-under....in rec leagues.
Watching highlights of the Iowa game, where everything is net...you begin to wonder, its not the 1970s anymore. Female players are 100x better. Does the ball need to take its training wheels off? But then you realize, it would be brick city.

They ran a play for her to shoot it from the logo on the record breaking shot. What a clown move
lol, it was a pull up from 30+ feet on a transition break with two of her teammates trailing, one behind half court, and you think they called a play for her to shoot it there?

Yes.
Much, much harder competition than Clark had to face.
Special Olympics isn't the same as the regular Olympics, dumbass...

You can watch her and tell she’s extremely talented.
She is but she's also a bitch - she's everyone's favorite but should be treated like JJ Reddick was at Duke
She talks a bunch of shite/is dirty and then whines and flops anytime someone does something back to her

You must not have been watching the game. This isn't what happened. She even stopped to turn around and talk to her coach who was on the other side of half court.

Nah, I don’t watch women play sports often. I will watch her from time to time though.
I thought you were talking about the way she broke the women’s record against Michigan with the way you worded it.

Wait you mean dawgfan and sorantable aren't in here because they actually watch women's basketball on the regular and are just in here virtue signaling like every facet of their life? I don't believe it

Not the way the media is basically claiming Clark is superior because she “beat his record
I don’t think that’s what people are saying. Lynette Woodard I thought made a great point during the broadcast yesterday. She said no one really mentioned her until Clark was coming close to her record and if anything it honored her by talking about her career.
Obviously men’s and women’s basketball is different. When Coach K beat out Pat Summitt for most all time wins, it didn’t meant that Pat Summitt was being forgotten.

You ever just think these networks are trying to monetize these moments instead of indoctrinating everyone? CC is a huge draw, sells out everywhere and puts eyeballs in front of TVs—it stands to reason that this is motivated by nothing other than money.

Indoctrinate is a strong word but I sure as hell believe they put political stances and virtue signaling in front of the more financially savvy move a lot. This isn't debatable imo

Ok, maybe they aren’t trying to make people “forget” about Pete Maravich. But if you can’t acknowledge that this is an intentional effort to try and prop up womens basketball (and womens sports in general) to put them on an equal playing field with mens sports, then you just have your head in the sand.
This is their chance now to go further even and claim that the womens game is superior to the mens because “well the all time leading scorer is now a woman!!”
And fo anyone claiming that nobody in the media is saying that she broke Pete Maravichs record, go look at all the headlines claiming just that: “Caitlin Clark broke Pete Maravichs record”

Is she? She always comes across as polite and respectful in the few pre and postgame press conferences and interviews that I’ve seen. Her “trash talking” from what I can tell, other than the hand in face wave” isn’t anything noteworthy. And I’ve never seen her play dirty.
If anything, I think she gets a little too caught in the moment and jacks up half-court threes.

quote:Her first season was at a JUCO. Then her final four seasons were spent in the equivalent today of DII/DIII. By all accounts she was an incredible player, and this was before the three pointer and back when there wasn't a "women's ball", but everyone used the same ball. Hearing accounts of her games it sounds like what would happen if you stuck someone like Angel Reese on Louisiana College's team.
Why is this not talked about?
