How about the sodomization that Djoker put on Granollers? That isn't a score line you usually see this late in men's draw. I didn't see the match, but Djoker has to be in top form with a result like that.

per tennisabstract.com. For each player, the percentages listed indicates their chances -- as projected by Jeff Sackman's computers -- of getting to the semis, getting to the final, and winning the tournament. He gives the slight edge to Novak over Rafa.

2013 US Open Men's Draw Forecast

Player SF F W
(1)Novak Djokovic (SRB) 86.8% 56.2% 35.2%
(21)Mikhail Youzhny (RUS) 13.2% 3.2% 0.7%
(3)Andy Murray (GBR) 80.5% 36.9% 19.8%
(9)Stanislas Wawrinka (SUI) 19.5% 3.7% 0.8%
(8)Richard Gasquet (FRA) 34.0% 8.1% 1.8%
(4)David Ferrer (ESP) 66.0% 24.3% 8.4%
(19)Tommy Robredo (ESP) 4.9% 0.6% 0.0%
(2)Rafael Nadal (ESP) 95.1% 67.0% 33.3%

Rafa has LOTS of trouble with the Djoker. And both guys are playing well. Should make for a great final if it happens.

Please let this final happen. I got Djoker in 5 sets

Ferrer doesn't have an 8% chance to win this thing.

It looks like Ferrer has an 8% chance to win his quarter final match.

I agree. Should be more like !% or less. I love that site, and I think the guy that runs it is really doing a great job in filling a much needed void in the way of tennis analytics. And it's only been around for a year or so. He's constantly improving it and adding new bells and whistles -- like player consistency ratings and comprehensive statistics filterable by seemingly anything* -- that I find interesting and useful. And so I don't wanna talk bad about his probability tree algorithm. But it's probably fair to say that it just looks to Ferrer's "power rating" as a player based on cumulative results, and isn't sophisticated enough to factor in the undeniable truth that Ferrer couldn't beat the top four players in a five set match on a hard court if his life depended on it (assuming no random injuries during the match a la Rafa 2011 (or was it 2010) at the Aussie Open.

Anyway, his computer did give Robredo a zero percent chance of winning the tournament, which is of course quite correct.

____________
*If you wanna know what Thomas Berdych's first serve percentage is against opponents with 7+ inch erect cocks (measured from the bottom), there's probably a way on that site.

I dunno know about that. Frenchmen just love folding under the pressure. It's what they do best.

I can't really disagree with that prediction.

I really want Rafa to get his second USO, but Djoker appears to be rounding into peak form. I can see another epic final just like the 2012 Aussie Final between them. Which is one of my favorite matches ever.

Also, I have money on Ferrer, so I'm hoping he pulls this out.
