I don't think Fowler is going to play that well

I don't particularly like Fowler this week, but I think the conditions definitely favor a player like him. He's fearless and long, which is exactly the combination that could allow a dark horse to win this week. Like Phil said, it'll be a birdie fest out there with the wet conditions, and Fowler is the type of player that will shoot at pins and not be afraid to go low. He'll have to be at the top of his game, which he hasn't been. But if he is, Rickie could make some noise this week.

It's tough to go back to back, but my dark horse pick this week is Hunter Mahan.

Since when is the #4 player in the world a dark horse?

Outside of the usual suspects, I'd pick Matt Kuchar as a player to watch. I don't think he's necessarily a dark horse though.

What's everyone think about the possibility of lift, clean, and place for the first round. IMO, unless the conditions are just ridiculously wet, lift, clean, and place has no place in a major. However, I'd rather see a birdie fest than see the guys spraying it all over the place because of excessive mud balls.

My standards are loose as you can see

I don't know about Kootch. I can't see the long putter being a contender on the AN greens.

I am saying this again...look out for Kyle Stanley...Long, fairly accurate, resilient, and fearless!

He's not a bad putter also!

I'm watching the Golf Channel, and it seems like everybody they show, you think man he could get hot and have a shot.

Adam Scott was in the hunt last year.

Is that thing gonna be like a sponge tomorrow or what?

I heard today all the greens have some kind of vacuum under them. They made it seem like greens can be as hard/soft as they want them to be.

I did a Master's pool with some buddies, and we made it to where you couldn't pick Rory, Tiger, or Phil. We picked 5 guys each, and are basing it off the tournament earnings.

I chose....

Scott (I'm biased)
Stanley
Snedeker
McDowell
Watney

Picked Snedeker and Watney based off their past successes at the Master's. Hope it pays off.

I took a lot of gambles, but I don't care, it's all good and fun.

We picked six golfers in my pool, with three lowest scores being the winner. My group is:

McIllroy
Haas
Stanley
F. Molinari
Jim Furyk
Jonathan Byrd

How do y'all think I will fare?

Really like Rory, Stanley, and Byrd. That's a good list. I'm not big on Furyk because of the distance of the course. Overall, solid picks IMO.
