As someone who doesn't watch much UFC, Is this the greatest upset in the history of the UFC?

Serra over GSP at UFC 69 in 07.

probably up there just because of who Silva is, but you knew he'd lose eventually...I just figured it would be to someone who was able to take him to the ground consistently.

Please be joking. He's the head ball coach at Texas A&M.

So is he Roy Jones Jr. now? One of the best ever, but just too old to fight their style?

We will see. When a guy goes on a win streak like Anderson did and then gets beat, that invincibility thing they have in their mind goes out the window. He could fall hard or he could wake up and give us another couple of years. I mean if he fought this guy again in 3 months I would probably pick Silva still. But, I haven't seen the fight only the KO. How was the fight going before that and what round was the KO in?

Weidman got a takedown early on. Otherwise, it was Anderson acting like an arse like he did against Leites and Maia.

No, as I stated in the other thread Silva was only -200. A lot of people thought Weidman would win, I didn't although I did say Weidman would be a tough test. Anderson acted like a clown and got clowned. point blank.

Weidman took him down pretty easy and fast in R1. Got a bunch of pretty ineffective shots in. Got back up and then Silva started clowning.

This was Sera catching GSP, that happens 1 time out of 10. Just happened to be the one.
And both fighters are underdog Longo / Renzo fighters from New York.

They're from the same camp.

Not even close. Weidman was undefeated and Silva hasn't really fought hard in a long time.

How so? If a guy literally just lets you punch him without fighting back, I don't think I'd call it a "great win". Stupid, dumbass fricking loss? Yeah, I can definitely roll with that one.

This.

Silva got what he deserved. Period. A motivated Silva will skull drag Weidman.

I'd say no.

Serra beating GSP was a bigger upset imo.

While this one was shocking because it's been so long since Silva has lost, Weidman matched up well against him. Lots of people thought Weidman could win.

Nobody thought in a million years Serra, a former fighter on The Ultimate Fighter reality show was going to beat GSP.
