People like to think that Kobe/MJ need motivational tools to keep them going, when in reality they don't need any more motivation than they already have.

They asked if Roy was tougher to guard than Kobe and he said yes. He could have gone the political route and said those are two different types of players to say that. Instead he said yes, taking a dig at his friend.
