Toronto Star sources confirm Leafs have acquired D Cody Franson and C Matthew Lombardi from NASH for D Brett Lebda and F Robert Slaney.
There are also conditional mid-round picks involved in the TOR-NASH trade depending on Lomardi’s health. He played only 2 games last year.

Personally I think I'd rather have Danny heatley. But idk. As a devils fan I'm praying they resign Parise before arbitration

San Jose has lost their damn mind, Set Heatley gone. I have no clue what they're doing.

San Jose dropping both heatly and Setoguchi is insane. I hope they are trying to improve and not digress here/

The Setoguchi trade was a win for SJ. Burns is a great offensive defenseman. The Heatley trade doesn't look good on the surface, but this past season, Havlat and Heatley were virtually even stats-wise (with Heatley also having more talent around him) and I've heard there could be some issues in the locker room with Heatley. I think Heatley's of course a better player, but I really don't think it's a huge gap, and if it improves locker room chemistry, it's a good move.

I think Havlat is a lot cheaper, signed a year longer, and can probably offer similar production on SJ. He's not the goal scorer Dany Heatley is, but he can still probably be a PPG guy if he winds up on the top PP unit in San Jose.

i think so far the pre season rankings look like this for the West.
Vancouver
LA
Anaheim
Detroit
San Jose
Chicago
Columbus
St. Louis/Nashville.
We can assume that the Kings are going to be great next season, but until we see them on the ice you can't rank them above pretty much the same lineup that was a few games away from the cup.

I didn't even think about the contract situation. You're right, Havlat is probably way cheaper.

Vokoun for 1.5 is a STEAL! So pumped about that signing. And I wish Washington would take notice of what San Jose is doing. Trade Semin or Green. The roster needs a wake up call.

what did anaheim do to be ranked as high as you have them?

I liked the trade for SJ. A little bias because I don't like Heatley at all, but if there were some locker room problems then it is a good trade. Heatley didn't impress me that much during the Wings series, and Havlat is still a solid offensive player, just cheaper.

I love their front line. Yeah, they have goalie problems but Hiller will bounce back.

anaheim has 1 good offensive line, bad defense, and a shaky goalie.
