I wonder what the Angels are thinking regarding pitching options. It seems a foregone conclusion that they won't sign Greinke, but right now they have Weaver and Wilson and then some recycled players that fit the bill of a #5 starter. Seems like they may make a move for BMAC, which would be hella cool.

I always thought of him that way too until a couple of years ago when we went in a big group to see the Rangers/Yankees in Arlington. Some of the kids in the group kept yelling for him to throw them some baseballs that he was shagging during BP. He signaled that he would take care of them (which I thought he did just to shut them up). When he was through fielding, he came over and threw each of them a ball. Still hate the Yankees...him not as much as before.

According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, the Mariners have added Jason Bay on a one-year contract after he hit .165/.237/.299 in 194 at-bats last season and then accepted a buyout from the Mets. The Mariners will see if Bay can can recapture the form that helped him bat .267/.384/.537 with 36 homers and 119 RBI in his last year in the AL with the Red Sox in 2009. In the three years since, he’s batted .234/.318/.369 with a total of 26 homers in 986 at-bats.

Like this one: Jon Heyman reports that the Diamondbacks have signed Eric Chavez. The deal is one year, $3 million, which seems quite reasonable.

It does.

Per Heyman:

Strong belief by people close to situation is greinke can beat cc sabathia $161M record deal if desires. #dodgers #rangers

Verlander is a CC-type-money pitcher.
Kershaw is.
Price will be if he keeps doing his thing.
Lee has been to an extent.
Felix is.

Zack fricking Greinke?

Keppinger and Chavez off market, Yanks make a move for Youk or try to trade for Headley?
I doubt they wanna play Nunez/Nix at third full time with Jeter probably needing some rest

Pads have basically said he is untouchable. IDK how much it would take nor do I think I want to give up a ton. The Yankees seem intent on building from within going forward. We'll need those pieces down the road.

I think they'll just take their lumps the next season or two.

I still think they make a move, bring AJ in on 2 year deal maybe offer Rolen something to come here as a part time player.

Having already seen Russell Martin and Eric Chavez sign elsewhere, the Yankees could next lose Raul Ibanez to a more interested suitor. FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mariners, Phillies and Rangers are interested in the 40-year-old.

According to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman, Ibanez would prefer to remain with the Yankees, but he’s growing a bit antsy since they’ve been slow to move. Ibanez already intends to retire to Seattle, so rejoining the Mariners might be attractive to him.

St. Louis was initially targeting Sean Burnett as a left-handed bullpen addition, but after finding his price tag too high the Cardinals have moved on to Randy Choate.

Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports that Choate has agreed to a one-year deal, whereas Burnett seems likely to get a two- or three-year deal for significant money.

Oh they have to do SOMETHING, they're just playing long-term rather than short. Boston is going full stupid, we're doing the opposite. Frustrating, but it'll pay off down the road.

ETA: Chavez stings. I'm cool with losing Martin and Ibanez.

Think Romine gets a call-up or legit shot coming out of ST? If we get in an OF pinch I see Almonte getting the call at some point in the season. Same with Pirela if DJ ends up out for an extended period.

It will be pretty sweet when the Reds get Jacoby Ellsbury.

Do the Yanks have any position players in minors they may be MLB ready this year? Romine is only one I can think who may get a call up at some point

I'm not sure, I really doubt it happens, Leake's name was thrown out there too. I'd givem both and some for a one year rental

Almonte - OF
Pirela - SS/2B
Romine - C

Romine has a legit shot IMO. Almonte has a pretty good shot as well. Pirela is a huge maybe.

He was supposed to be a future star.... Power, steals, high OBP, and playing premier position doesn't look like he will pan out

They still need plenty of rotation help, but the Angels have added another late-inning option to their bullpen. Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports that they’ve signed left-hander Sean Burnett to a two-year deal with an option for 2015.

Just want to pop in and say two things

The Rockies trade for Wilton Lopez might be one of the dumber deals I have ever seen.

The Red Sox have gone full retard this offseason, what the frick are they thinking.

They're paying premium for a stop-gap while they rebuild. Retarded, yes, but it makes them (in theory) not suck as much for the next year or two.
