that loss has to be demoralizing as frick. i don't know if they can recoup from that
Two straight games given away in extra periods after having a two goal lead
Yeah, that's rough.

Were you at the game? Where the frick you been?

LA will split in NY at worst
Meh, maybe. But the Rangers could very easily be up 2-0 going home too. It'll be interesting to see how NY responds Monday night.

Absolutely. I think Betman has to be one of the shittiest marketers of a big company ever if he can't get people interested in this. What's not to love?
I've never watched a hockey game in my life but i turned on the tv at the beginning of the first overtime and this shite was fricking exciting.

It just doesn't get any more exciting than that. It's a shame that so many people are clueless about the awesomeness of hockey, especially playoff hockey.

I was lifeguarding at a country club in Houston where they didn't have any of the fricking TVs on the game and I didn't have my phone. I was cursing thinking I was missing the game, but when I got into my car the 2OT was starting so I got a nice suprise

It's fantastic. I've still never been to an NHL game, that's something I need to make happen.

How the frick can you call yourself a fan of athletics and not love the NBA/NHL playoffs?
shite is amazing every year

frick yea it is. I've sort of adopted the Rangers as my team because when they won in 1994, that's what really brought my attention to hockey. I haven't missed a team skate the cup since. I don't get into the regular season much at all. It's just mind boggling to me that this country isn't more enthusiastic about hockey as a whole. It has everything people love...fast-paced action with little down time, hard hitting and even some fighting, and exciting finishes.

I think it has to do with being able to relate to it. Hockey's always been more regional favoring the colder climes in the states.
Not a knock on hockey itself.

That's true. A lot of people don't seem to understand the basic rules either, which can make it hard to watch.

i only watch the sports i played as a kid... basketball, football, baseball and a little soccer and tennis. hockey isn't that big in So Cal, more kids grow up skateboarding and playing watersports than hockey.

Mixed in with lack of T.V. coverage
Lockouts
Pretty poorly officiated games along with poor enforcement standards for gooning it up
As fun as it is, there are some serious flaws with the very structure.

quote:for me it has 100% to do with not having a fricking team. this is the first Stanley Cup i have watched since probably the mid 90's and the only reason i watched it was because absolutely nothing was on tv during game 1
I think it has to do with being able to relate to it
in the 90's we got the icegators in Lafayette a minor league team. me and my buddies got real into it even started playing street hockey in the neighborhood. i became a fan of the avalanche for a bit with Patrick roy and joe sakic. then the icegators went away and we all lost interest. we need a nhl team in Louisiana or i need to find a team to adopt so i can get back into it.

I think it also has something to do with the fact that they have by far the worst television deal of all major sport leagues in the country. hell games 3 and 4 of this series are on fricking cable
