AKA MLB/A's are blackmailing city into getting a new stadium
Yeah, but Oakland is a huge dump and MLB can do much better. Plus there is already another team in the Bay Area.

Busch Stadium is in fact closer than DC but Pittsburgh isn’t. I stand corrected on the second closest stadium.
LoanDepot Park in Miami is actually closer than Camden Yards (by 2 miles), PNC Park, both Chicago teams, and Progressive Field

Oakland once had the A's, Warriors, and Raiders and now about to lose all 3 lmao
I am not a fan of teams blackmailing cities for new stadiums, but your statement above really says everything you need to know about Oakland

The Diamondbacks don't seem to have issues...and Phoenix is easily 5-10 degrees hotter than Vegas.
Umm, the Diamondbacks play in a downtown, retractable roof stadium with air conditioning... just like Texas, Houston, Tampa Bay and Miami (now)

Portland has two professional teams: Blazers and Timbers. Both franchises have had elite fan support their entire history. The Trailblazers have sold out every single game numerous seasons and the MLS Timbers are following suit.
Cool. Means nothing in terms of a MLB franchise for 81 games a year. You don’t even fill your current minor league stadium and it’s less than a decade old.

How in the hell does Vegas have a better corporate scene than Portland? Outside gaming and Zappos, what else do they have? And how the hell does Vegas have better summer weather?
Vegas has dozens of casinos, every major hospitality group in the world, every domestic and international airline worth a damn flies there and they have their own local companies as well. Not to mention the millions of visitors who flock there each year. They put a damn hockey team in the desert and they sell out regularly. But you don’t believe a baseball team could hack it when the Aviators led MiLB in attendance in 2019. Yeah okay

Be honest, you are an ignorant clown. I bet you never been to Portland or suburbs, which are nothing like Austin (or even Portland itself even)
There’s nothing there that I don’t have here other than salmon and dirty hippies. No thanks.

Portland is far and away the best landing spot outside of the Bay Area for the A’s.
Lol k

Vegas isn’t even a serious candidate
They are easily the frontrunner.

Uh what? Passan says in the same report they're the favorite.

While the A's have expressed that remaining in Oakland and building a $12 billion mixed-use development is their priority, the standstill of the project prompted today's move. The leading contender if the A's do move: Las Vegas. Plenty of other cities would welcome the team, too.

Have they considered Iowa, LA? Someone on the OT told me that Bucces would be going there soon too.

#1 - not mine. I’m 110 miles north snuggly in Mariners/Rainiers country and fan of both.
#2 - Portland does not have a team currently. They traded away minor league baseball for major league soccer. Oregon State University baseball is their top team and do well.
#3 - Portland area folks make up a decent % of Mariners tickets sold. It would be a slam dunk success from start. Mariners would not block a franchise 170 miles away because it would cut travel by a ton (Mariners = most mileage team every year in baseball) + the instant rivalry would be good for business. Seattle fans hate the A’s and Portland. Instant rivalry.
Portland’s Dale Murphy should kick you in the vag and take away your Braves fan card (if you are indeed a fan of them).

Can't imagine how hot that stadium is in August.

That’s all cute and nice, but the A’s aren’t moving to Portland nor should they.

He’s an idiot. Why are they the favorite? They are a small, transient, over saturated market with a small corporate base. They should not be in the top 5 for discussion. They barely got the Raiders deal done and that is still yet to be proven. Plus any Vegas ballpark will need to be dome/retractable, greatly escalating the costs.

but I wonder if the Braves will stifle any new team in Charlotte or Nashville for cutting into their Deep South fan base or if they won't care at all.
I don't see any South Carolina folks switching allegiance to a Charlotte team. I certainly wouldn't.

Why?
All the As fans can fly in
Plenty of ppl will fill that stadium
Golden Knights sell out each night
Your reasons are dumb

If Portland gets the A’s, will you ban yourself from here? I think Portland is the #3 in the race, ahead of Vegas. I think Sacramento and Salt Lake City make more sense than Vegas as well.
The Vegas talk is just smoke playing on low information folks like yourself drooling over Allegiant Field. A’s want to stay in Oakland or move to San Jose.

There are rumors the Indians ownership is selling, and the Nashville group is first in line.
Posted on 5/11/21 at 9:29 pm to Snoop Dawg
The "Montreal A's" has a really good ring to it. But, we all know the team will go to Vegas.

Maybe by driving distance, but not in a straight line... which is really just semantics.

If Michael Jordan put together money for a team MLB would shun Nashville for Charlotte.

Not at first. But in a couple of decades there would be a generational difference. Much in the way that many in the Carolinas used to be Redskins fans.
