A pollster or computer rankings really can't diminish what you've accomplished. I can tell you this: The ring will still be as big. Now, we may not have that crystal ball down there, but we'll have a lot of signage.
” -- Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly

"I would tell our players that everything that was within their control, they handled and that they're champions because of it. A pollster or computer rankings really can't diminish what you've accomplished," Kelly said Wednesday in an interview with The Associated Press. "I can tell you this: The ring will still be as big. Now, we may not have that crystal ball down there, but we'll have a lot of signage."

They have won all the games so far..

What's the big deal? I don't see anything wrong with what he said, and I can't stand em.

Of course this was a reply to a question about how would feel IF they went undefeated and got left out ...

I don't think that will happen anyway BUT don't let the facts get in a way of a good story

He's their coach, so of course I would expect him to stick up for his team. With that said, anyone who's watched ND this year can see that they aren't one of the 3 best teams. Scraping by BYU and going to OT against Pitt is just bad.

They are this year. VERY relevant. Even more than LSU.

At this point they are currently more relevant than LSU, so yes, you seem a little mad.

In my post a few posts up I said I see where he's coming from. To play devil's advocate though, he's basically blaming "polls and computers" for when his team inevitably gets left out of the title game. Which they should.

And I know you weren't directing your post at me btw.

What scares (well maybe not scares, but concerns) me about ND this year is that they're gonna pull an 02 Ohio State. In absolutely no way was Ohio State the best team in the country in 02, yet they kept winning games. They would scrape by average to bad teams (holy buckeye against purdue, OT win against Illinois [in fact, they should have lost that game but a referee made a bad call in OT to give them the win], etc) but never ended up losing. Then they played well enough to win the title game.

I don't think ND is as good as that OSU team, but I sure would hate it if they have the same outcome this year. There are at least 5 or 6 better teams this year than ND.

They also pretty much blew Oklahoma out.

Also, I remember correctly, LSU struggled against a 2-8 Auburn team. I'm not here to say LSU is bad, but struggling against some mediocre to bad teams doesn't always mean as much you want it to.

All that matters is the W. Lots of really good teams struggle with not so good teams. Look at LSU @ Florida. Y'all should have killed them, but you failed to execute well. ND isn't the best team based on talent IMHO, but they execute well enough to win every game so far. It matters.

What bothers me about those ND struggles was they were at home.
