LOST is the key word here.
By 1 point On the last play of the game, that was noticeably officiated sketchy. (TAMU Patriot held, errr...tackled the blitzers).
And we have Playoffs now, losses ain't what they used to be, they're treated as an "evaluation tool" by the Committee...
Hey you guys wanted this party, come one, come all...losses aren't remotely the albatross they once were, ending a team's season.
Hell Ohio State won it all last year, right. They lost to Oregon (no worries, that was practice, get a do-over when "football counts") lost to Michigan to end the year, now THAT surely should end their year!...no worries, just crank it up in a month, and start the season anew in January.
You can't want this system and playoff and then bitch about Notre Dame's losses not being a death knell.

I didn't want a playoff. Id be fine going back to the polls. What we have now is bullshite.

Yeah because having secretaries at local newspaper casting a vote for the champion was a great system.

You didn't have a bunch of two-loss teams hyping up their resume, either.

I know this doesn’t matter but if they played either of the teams that beat them tight now they would win.

There is no way to know that.

Notre Dame's best win is still USC.
A team that will be in the top 15 this week? Not a very good gotcha.

One (1) top 15 win. Two top 15 losses.

If that’s the only criteria they have a better win than Oregon and Ohio St. Texas Tech and Ole Miss have a slightly better win (BYU is ranked higher USC but I don’t think they are better), but both of them have a way worse loss than either of ND’s.

LSUs losses are all ranked. Should they be in the playoff hunt, too?

I’ll placate your disingenuous argument by countering with how many ranked wins do they have?

How many will ND have after tomorrow's rankings come out?

You can’t just say, “well, they lost by two scores so I don’t think having their starting QB would’ve mattered”.
And you can’t just say, “the game doesn’t count because UGA was missing one player.” Particularly when it’s not like that guy is Cam Newton or Tim Tebow or Joe Burrow.

Between 1 and 3

Notre Dame will win out and they'll be in. They're playing really good and have a lot of weapons. Two RBs that can break it at any time, QB play is way better than last year, WRs that can make plays. Defense that is solid.
Go ahead and sleep on them. They're going to be a tough out and wouldn't shock me if they win the whole damn thing.

This year’s quarterback seems to be a better passer, but not nearly the runner that Leonard was. They have no confidence in kicking field goals either. I think that will be a problem for them.
Everyone craps on their schedule. And it is weak in general. But they absolutely beat the brakes off of Arkansas. 56-13. Arkansas is not good this year, but can someone explain to me why every SEC team has struggled to beat them handily?

Pitt will drop out. USC and who else?

Navy is hanging around, probably won’t be in this week though. By the end of conference championships though ND could have 3 ranked wins, including 2 over conference champions in the playoffs. Unlikely it happens, but Pitt and Navy control their destiny.

I didn’t say it doesn’t count at all, just that the caveat that they were missing their starting QB for that game shouldn’t be forgotten. Trying to prop up ND’s run last year by just mentioning “they beat Georgia” without that context is disingenuous.

They were literally in a 1 score game in the 4th quarter against a 1 win BC team two weeks ago.
So you picked the one close game on their schedule and ignored the fact that the rest of their wins were blowouts?
