“His timing on quitting smokeless tobacco couldn’t have been worse. You would’ve liked to have thought that if he was going to do that that he would’ve done it in the offseason or waited until this offseason to do it. So the drastic effect that it had on him and the year that he was having up to that point in time that he did quit, you’d have liked that he would’ve taken a different approach to that. So those issues caused unrest, and it’s unfortunate that it happened and the timing was such as it was.”

Man, the Rangers are greasing the wheels for his exit like nothing else.

He opened the door with the "I owe them nothing" comments. After that they pulled the gloves off.

ETA: Am I the only person that doesn't see him getting more than 4 or 5 years at $20-million tops?

Good riddance, Hamilton. It's been fun and real, but it's time. Good luck.

They know he's gone so they're mad.

The first part of your sentence is correct. The second part is incorrect.

I think nobody is really mad. Frustrated by his season after May, yes. They've got some good cover for letting him go since the fans are dissatisfied with his lack of effort and his overall IDGAF attitude as well as his "past" and his "history".

i hope that's the case. i like hamilton, but i don't like the way he's handled himself over the last year. i'm not rooting for him to fall off the wagon, but i would love to see him served a big plate of humble pie

by whom? Some team(s) might be dumb enough to go there but not a team with a real shot at winning

I love Hamilton but his actions during this season IMO are very flaky. Teams will be weary of going overboard but I def think he is done in Tehas

Right

so they're mad.

Wrong

The Ranger's front office and clubhouse is tired of all his crap. It's always something with Josh. Falling off the wagon, quitting tobacco because the lord said so, taking himself at of games because his eyes don't blink due to being hopped up on energy drinks, etc... It was fun while it lasted, but they're through with it. I'm guessing the contract with his signing team will be 3 years $60 million range.

I'm gonna laugh when him and Rangers resolve issues and he goes back at 5 years 18 million a year

Rangers fan's on this board will blow up, especially a certain few....

Dodgers, Cubs make the most sense for him
Angels, Red Sox, Tigers, Yankees, Phillies, Mets don't make a move either due to their own current financial situation or going in different directions.

You could see a surprise team like Nationals, Cards, Braves, Arizona, or Toronto make an offer and maybe some team will be dumb enough to give him 6 years at 20 million or more a season.

That having been said, it is apparent the marriage is over. Even with his "antics", Hamilton still mashes "most" of the time...and someone will probably overpay him.

If Hamilton signs for 3/$60, which he won't, the Rangers will re-sign him. But there's no way I'd give a guy this fragile 5 years.

I thought he just smoked crack/free based coke?

Didn't know he did heroin or other opiums.

ETA:

Anyone who collects or collected sports cards remember this issue?

I remember grabbing up Hamilton RCs then he just disappeared for half a decade. Forgot about the guy.

I love watching people turn on their own.

It's entertaining to see my cynicism justified.
