What does that have to do with what I said? I'd likely strike out against either, just stating who I think would get me out easier.
You guys are a bunch of pussies

Ryan, at the age of 46, deliberately beamed Robin Ventura before one of the most epic mound charges/fights in MLB history. Gimmie Ryan.

Also got beat up by Dave Winfield when he was like 30.

Randy might accidentally get one too close to your head, but Nolan would do it in purpose.
Randy hit more batters than Ryan did and was just as feared

Big Unit looked like a Titan on the mound and is coming in from the left. I want no part of him.
I’ll face Nolan.
I’ll face Nolan.

Listen little Jayden Kayne travel ball all star, I know mommy and daddy told you you’re good enough, smart enough and people like you... but I’m here to tell you to eat shite because they both would need three pitches to send you dragging your no talent arse back to the dugout. So... realize your limitations, douche, it’s very important.

TIL both Ryan and Johnson were 46 when they retired.
But Nolan played in a different era, where pitchers actually pitched. Nolan pitched 222 complete games, where Randy only pitched 100. Ryan threw 332 innings in 74. The most Johnson ever pitched was 271 in 99.
I’m not taking anything away from Randy Johnson, believe me. But most people think Ryan just played forever, but it’s more about how much he played vs how long he played. Which makes the strikeout record all the more impressive, imho. Being dominant on shorter rest and such.

I had the pleasure of seeing Nolan Ryan start four different games from 90-93. The first baseball game I ever watched was his 299th win, he was a special kind of talent. The guy was in his 40’s, slinging 100 mph fastballs like aspirin. When the ball hit the mitt it echoed over the entire stadium, the old Ranger stadium in Arlington. He led the league in no-hitters and strikeouts in his 40’s... he was an unbelievable pitcher, you had to see it. He made dudes with elite hand/eye coordination look silly. I owe my love of baseball to him honestly.
The Big Unit I never got to watch pitch unfortunately but his stats speak for themselves. He intimidated batters because he seemed to be in their face on his release. He was a generational talent too and deserves every bit of praise he received.
Despite their careers crossing paths, they were part of different eras for pitches. When Nolan got on the mound in the 70s and 80s, pitchers were expected to go 9 innings. Randy was part of some great teams, but they were more formed pitching “staffs” by the time he was in his prime. It’s really an apples and oranges comparison, IYAM. Both deserved first ballot HOF.

These records will likely never be sniffed. The active leader in complete games in the majors is Justin Verlander with 26.

The Big Unit was deadly efficient at times. His K/9 and WHIP numbers speak for themselves.

Rookie numbers. Gibby tossed 255 CG. And 8 more in the postseason.

Gibson vs Ryan is actually a better comparison. Gibson did have the good fortune of being on some elite teams, but he was an elite star in his own right.

I’d rather face Ryan or Randy before a prime Gibson....

Exactly. Gibby is on an entirely different level. The MJ of the mound. But far meaner.

It still amazes me that he lost 9 games in 1968 with a 1.12 ERA.......

That never gets old.
Ventura getting his arse kicked by Nolan was classic.

Whenever Ryan was president of the Rangers and Ventura was manager of the Sox and they came in town, he wouldn’t allow the video to be played on the jumbo out of respect for Robin and the game. All class, baw.
