Ya, given they aren't starting play until 2025 and decided now is the time to announce publicly--when there was no pressing reason too--makes me think that both are closer to "done deals" than not.
USL Stadiums that are purpose built are usually only around 8-10k. Looking at the link below, some are in the 14k range, but many are in the 5-8k range.
My guess is they build both. With this stadium in the 10-15k range so that it can host HS FB as well, including championships.

USL teams are highly competitive in the US Open and routinely beat MLS teams.
Very few MLS teams take the US Open seriously w/most usually opting to play backups and young players in those games.
Even then, since MLS formed in 1996 only one non MLS team has won (Rochester Rhinos in '99) and just three have reached the final (Rochester '96, '99 & Charleston Battery '08).

Yup that's what I would hope for. Make it closer to 15k and can start taking outdoor concerts and such from Champions Square which has about 9000 person capacity (according to Google at least).

While true this season Sacramento Republic is in the semis, and the guy who helped get them started is one of the 2 main guys working on the NOLA USL team. That is reassuring that this will be done right.

My suggestion for team name:
NOLA GC (NOLA Gulf Coast)
name would represent the entire state/region, not just New Orleans and riffs off the "euro" style names.

I’d be pissed if the state championships left the Dome for a 15k venue… maybe it could be a semifinal venue though
But I’ll believe this when it happens… downtown land is too valuable for minor league baseball, so why should we have minor league soccer there? What was wrong with Metairie?

Now coming out onto the pitch...your New Orleans DESTROYAS!
With the numerous horrible mascots that NOLA teams have given us, I can't wait to see what they'd produce for this.

Not sure where they'd put it unless they alter their plans
They probably would have to change something up, but these USL stadiums are usually pretty small. Just need a soccer field & some bleachers. They are shooting for first season in 2025

This would seem to be a good example of Jefferson and Orleans parish needing to work together as a single, integrated, million person economic unit and not two distinct fiefdoms. There is a current project on the table to convert zephyr field into a “multi-purpose” stadium using covid money and state dollars. Project cost is around $75 million. To do that and to build a USL stadium along the river in Orleans parish is just stupid and wasteful.
Get together, come to a revenue sharing agreement and build a single project that is actually ahead of the curve as opposed to two mediocre projects that will just compete against each other to fill a calendar of events.

With the superdome, yulman, & Tad Gormley being used for HS Football, I don't think that should be a priority for this stadium.

Wont happen. Why do developers even look at Nola to invest in anymore.

Also, gay
Over/under on how long this guy could last on a full field with adult rec league players? (Much less ACTUAL soccer players?)
I'll set the line at 10 minutes.

Because it's one of the most visited cities in the country and one of the top convention cities in the world?
Just a hunch.

That is the first place I thought of when I thought about where this team might play. It would make the most sense.

LOL...blah, this is New Orleans we are talking about
2. I don't think you caught the meaning of my post. "kickin it" didn't mean literally a soccer ball...it meant theyl be partying

You're already making too much sense.

I think we can add St Tammany as an equal to those two now… it’s time they got something like a sports team
