There are WAY less commcerials than both NFL and NCAA. That is in terms of number of breaks and number of commercials per break.

That was part of the design for a shorter (2.5 hour) game.

From the AAF wikipedia page:
quote:

Telecasts feature no television timeouts and 60 percent fewer "full-screen commercials," with the league aiming for an approximate real-time game length of 150 minutes, down from just over 180 in the NFL.[16][21] In turn, the AAF aims to charge more money for the remaining commercial slots, also alluding to product placement opportunities that do not interrupt the game telecast.[1]

Looks like they want to focus on the breaks between the quarters/half and big waits; and to compensate, aim for a higher price/commercial.

It's quite refreshing. It got really aggravating to have 4 commercial breaks totaling 12 minutes with 2-4 minutes left on the clock in an NFL game.

Commercials would actually be a sign of good things.

No commercials means no revenue.

Nobody buys network spots on Saturday night anyway. CBS would probably be airing NCIS reruns tonight if they didn't have this.

Because they put their commercials on the unis and on the field itself and teams doing similar things over here have caused people to melt

That's because the NBA wants its cake and to eat it too. I'd be all for patches if they had zero commercials.
