I hope Meggs takes questions but doubt it

Why would they call a whole press conference planned for tomorrow, unless he's being charged?
I'm being realistic here. If he was cleared, wouldn't they just tell him and end it now?

It doesn't take a lot to charge someone.
There's a standard - about likelihood of prevailing at trial - but most DA's only follow it when it suits them.
It's easy to get out of a failed prosecution down the line and blame the PD and opposition.
My feeling is that they've been building a case to defend for lack of prosecution because this is a media case and a sensitive topic like sexual assault.
If they wanted to charge him - they would have just done it awhile ago...DA's don't build cases before charging - they over-charge, make assumptions, try for plea deals and go from there.

I think he will given the lack of protocol followed by TPD. I think that they'll want to clear up as many issues as they can about the process, whether they charge or not.

This makes sense.

How many press conferences have you seen where they actually charge someone?

PC to announce charges have been or are being filed? All the fricking time?

You didn't watch the Zimmerman proceedings, I guess.

If this case was about proving innocence it would have been wrapped up 11 months ago. The TPD has tipped their hand by all the leaked info they didn't want coming out, no way they charge him.

It was consensual and she just got butthurt that Jaboo hit it and quit it.
If he does get charged though...somehow, someway, Alabama will get a rematch again. You know it's coming.

So why not say so now? At least let the kid and his family and those involved know. Seems pretty shitty to keep this looming over them if they already know they're not charging him.

To be fair. Meggs said from the get go the World would know what they find after they decide whether to charge or not.

Winston will know before the PC whether they are charging him or not. Just my guess.

Exactly. I can ONLY surmise that there is a piece or two of evidence they are hoping to have surface before the presser. Otherwise this is a total arse move to delay.

Def atty Chuck Hobbs: “Sends a strong signal that Jameis Winston will not be charged." Presser will "explain ... the thorough investigation"
