If he is innocent why are they trying to drag this out further and further? If all the evidence is there how come the claims (from the same people who claim the evidence) that the case will be dropped always is false?

Because they're making shite up would be my guess. I'd imagine the DA and a few others in his office are the only ones that know what's coming. And they aren't blabbing about it.

Basically FSU vs Bama circle jerk. FSU fans blindly says he's innocent and Bama fans blindly says he's guilty.

That's probably the most accurate statement that has been posted.

The whole situation stinks
Can College football get through a season without messed up moral dilemma's happening these days? Seems to happen all the time now and Sportscenter has a Jerry Springer vibe about it now. I really liked this Winston kid at FSU and was hoping we'd all get a Bama -vs- FSU BCS Title game. I think that game could deliver on the hype, but at this point in time. The game is just a game and this rape case is serious business. My thoughts on it all.....
If Winston did it, let him face his deserved punishment
If he's innocent, this is a misfortune situation for him

Now concerning the game(Yep, it's just a game) of college football. Bama has got a bunch of work left, and if they're fortunate enough to make the BCS Title game. I want the team across-the-field of Bama at full strength and the best CFB team available. I personally think that team is FSU with Winston, and that's who I'd like Bama to play if they make it. Now if Winston did all he's accused of all this changes. Plus, this is how SEC outsiders should feel about the SEC Champ making the BCS Title game this year. They should want to play the SEC's best whether that's Bama, Missouri, or Auburn. Doesn't matter, a BCS Title game without the SEC Champion would be pretty shallow after 7 straight won. Especially when considering most those BCS Title games weren't even close. I'd welcome the challenge Bama would face with taking down the conference that had won 7 straight BCS titles. What an opportunity that would be and the historic significance is there to be had too. We'll see how this all this ends and hopefully us CFB fans get the best match-up.

Does seem odd how the charge or no charge decision keeps getting delayed
Is this normal in these type of cases?

At this point it just seems they are trying to buy time, so that FSU doesn't get excluded out of the national championship. They aren't stupid, they know what is at stake here, so having a two week window come out of now where seems kind of odd unless there is an ulterior motive.

That national championship birth is the only ulterior motive I can think of, because it is the only thing relevant to the proposed time period.

In my opinon, they hold off the investigation by claiming they are building a case and collecting facts to insure they aren't pressured to make their decision. In the mean time, FSU can whip Florida and Duke, with the BCS confirming them as #2. If they were to charge Winston now, it would heighten the chances they have some bumps on the road and voters just vote OSU ahead regardless.

This way, they will still charge Jameis because there is enough evidence, all the while insuring their University benefits from being in the NCG. It would be too late for voters to change their votes. That could help him with the Heisman too.

Easily the most ridiculous thing posted so far in this thread. Ridiculous is being kind.

Haven't heard if the meeting will actually take place or not.

Hopefully Meggs ends the fiasco today.

I haven't followed this much the last few days since I've been with my fam. What is the reasoning for why people are saying nothing is coming out for 2 more weeks? From an outsider perspective it seems the timing is odd since the Heisman and NCG would be decided by then.

One of my FSU friends said it was b/c they are still gathering evidence, but couldn't that have been done 10 months ago? Seems odd

Small SAO with other cases on the docket.

All that's left is the e-records, which should only take a max of 4 or 5 days after the warrants are issued.

Florida State has said there is no change in Winston's status with the team. Florida State's student-athlete code of conduct prohibits participation in competition when he or she is charged with a felony "absent extraordinary circumstances as determined by the administration".

Winston will play in BCS Championship game regardless. FSU will find this is "extraordinary circumstances".
