Embiid is about to go on a tear that we have never seen

Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic has been voted the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for a second consecutive season, sources tell ESPN. A formal announcement is expected this week.

Makes sense. I can't remember a center being a top 3 playmaker in the league like Jokic consistently has done.

I don't hate it... but what is the criteria? What is it?

Best player on the best team?
Best player with the least supporting cast with the best stats?
Best player with the best narrative?

Jokic is a great player, but how is this any different than Westbrook winning the MVP? lol

There is none.

Every person has a different take.

It’s a media popularity contest

They don’t have criteria and even in they did it would change next season depending on who they want to win

I like Joker to be clear. I don't like how the media gets to push the narratives they like when they feel like it when it comes to awards.

Either announce it or not. Why would it be leaked?

You answered your own question.

Who do you think "deserved" it?

It’s a Narrative based award. There is no criteria.

Embiid. Top 4 seed in the East, while missing their 2nd best player for over half the year (and who got traded), and put up insane numbers.

I mean it was a 3 person race, Jokic isn't a wrong choice, just different than what some would pick

Jokic missed his 2nd best player damn near the whole year right?

And he was a 6 seed in a worse conference.

Embiid got worse when they traded for Harden. That's what cost him the award.

Top 4 seed in the East

They won 3 more games than the Nuggets, their final record difference was negligible.

The Nuggets were without their 2nd best player for the entire season, and their 3rd best player played 9 games

put up insane numbers

Jokic's numbers were better
