Is this going to be the de facto preseason thread? I'm going to treat it as such.

The Blues drop their second preseason game. Once Elliot was replaced by Lundstrom in the third, things didn't go so well.

I wouldn't call them a bubble playoff team. They're in the toughest division in hockey. I'd be pretty surprised if they made the playoffs. They won't be horrible, though.

Don't forget that they didn't even have Rinne for 3/4 of the season last year and missed making the playoffs in the last week of the season. Also Kevin Fiala (#1 draft pick) is tearing it up in pre-season this year. Stranger things have happened.....

You forgot arguably the best defenseman in the world: Shea Weber.

Well I was speaking offensively more than anything, they've always had defense.

They were 3 points from the playoffs last year, and that's without a top tier goalie for months of the season. Foolish to not call them a playoff bubble team.

First look at the Predators tonight:

Will be interesting to see Riberio, Roy, and Neal. Fiala will also be dressing for tonight's game. Here's to hoping that this is the start of a better offense for 2014-2015

Love first preseason games. Sloppy as shite. Rangers / Devils were all over the place - Kristo got an assist. Maybe he'll make the taxi squad this year.

Gamecenter Live didn't show the Pens-Wings game, but with no Crosby, Malkin, or Kunitz...I didn't miss much.

NHL's preseason is about as bad as NFL's.

I hope Neal does well for them, I greatly dislike how he plays the game, but he can score goals. It's going to be very interesting to see how he does without a Malkin creating space for him and setting him up. Personally I think Neal takes a decent step back from his Pitt days.

I love Rinne though, my favorite goalie in the League.

Neal is a POS. He's one of the few athletes where I think any injury that comes to him is essentially deserved karma.

Matt Cooke was way way worse, made Neal look like an angel.

Let me settle this for you guys: They are both immense POS. I'm hoping now that Neal plays in my town and is actually the star offensive player (????) that he will modify his game accordingly. Of course, he could always just stay a TPOS

(I'm still a NYR fan but will inevitably watch more Preds games because I refuse to pay for center ice when my team will be on the NHLN every 1.5 weeks)

Not gonna happen. Playing like a dumbass is just his MO. Never seen someone take so many stupid arse penalties and at the worst times. 1 goal lead with 5 minutes left? You can bet your arse James Neal is slashing someone right in front of an official. And come postseason, forget it, he's already golfing. 4 points in the Pens 13 postseason games last year, he actually had double the penalty minutes as points.

I pay for GameCenter Live, well split it with a friend, and the Pens are on NBCS and NHLN so damn much, still worth, I watch a few other games from time to time, mainly Tampa, and it's great to have later in the year obviously for the races.

Hoping against hope!

So in other words, he's like a combo of Rick Nash and Sean Avery when it comes to the playoffs? Non-existent except when in the box?

I hear you, may get it in a few years once the kids get older. Getting 2 games every 3 weeks is good enough for the time being; it's more than I was watching living in NYC (wouldn't get home until 9 due to commute and work commitments). Would definitely get GC live if they were not on though......

Wings were without Zetterberg and half of our defense.

So were the Pens, I was just naming the bigger stars. Preseason blows.

I hear you, am excited though to see the new prospects to see what they can do, at least for the two teams I follow, that's the only reason I get excited for it. Actually - as a Pens fan you should be excited to figure out who actually has talent vs. who is garbage for your 3-4 lines

To LSUTigerfaninHtown and the other Blues fans..

I'm currently working on getting credentials to cover the Chicago Wolves, the Blues AHL affiliate. If everything works out I am going to try to post a weekly minor league update for you guys

Seattle isn't too far away and would be another reason to go back there and Portland already has the winterhawks so it'll be in Seattle for sure.

That would be huge for the city. Apparently the Bucks are looking to move there if they don't get a new arena, so that would be a crazy time to move there in a couple years
