Duclair is lighting it up! A lot of young kids/prospects doing well for the Rangers this preseason!

Let's Go Rangers!

Yeah, I think they've all been sent down except Duclair. I think they can let him play 9 games before returning him to the Q or something. They should give him a chance, but there is a logjam at forward. Hopefully Tanner Glass is looking for rental properties in Hartford.....

Unless Joey signs, the CBJ will be without their projected first line to open up the season. The Boone injury was terrible news.

We'll make a new thread when it's time.

Trotz making some lineup announcements for the Caps, sorting through the options. Fehr wins the lottery to be the top line RW opposite Ovi. Johannson will be a wing and will not play center (a wing who can't shoot... somebody is getting traded!).

No word on the 2C, but he's already eliminated two of the contenders: Laich and MoJo. That means it's either Kuznetsov OR... it's Burakovsky time. As it looks now:

Ovi-Backs-Fehr
Kuznetsov-Bura-Brouwer
CLAW Line!
MoJo-Latta-Wilson

Though he might swap Kuz and Laich. But WaCK Line doesn't have the same ring. And I hope never to see Laich and Brouwer on the same line ever again so long as I live.

Yes. Started off life rough being one of fifteen whalers fans. They moved. I moved to NYC and lived there for the last 14 years; had season tickets one year but they got too expensive. Just moved to Nashville, so still a Rangers fan but follow / like the Predators if that makes sense (still get 1 game a week between NHL network and NBC).

Rangers made roster cuts today. McIlrath is still on the team, as is Duclair. Not surprisingly, Kristo got cut. Still wondering why they even signed Tanner Glass.

We will have to stick together in this season thread. I am a die hard Rangers fan.

I saw on facebook 7 guys got cut today.

Yeah most of those were expected though. All young guys that will find it hard to compete with players that have all had multiple 40+ game seasons. Lots of time or guys to marinate. About 6 guys left to compete for the final 2 d spots. Hoping McIlrath gets a chance. Dude is a monster.

A lot of inexperience on that second line, but it's kind of exciting to see what some new blood can bring to the Caps.

They might shelter one of the rookies and put them between Ward and Chimera, who pretty much can produce without a center. they had Fehr as their center last season, a guy who has never been one, and they were the team's best line. I think they might drop Kuz to that line to groom him to be the Future.

Burakovsky, like Kuz, is also a center/wing hybrid who could go either way. He's also 19, so he probably should be in the AHL. But he's been, clearly, their second best center in the preseason. They might attempt to shelter him on a Laich-Brouwer line, but... ugh. Too many bad memories of those two together. I'd prefer Brouwer on the 1L and drop Fehr down to help out the kid. Fehr has the best shot on the team among the mortals.

Yeah, the Caps rested all of their top line guys and the top 4 of the defense. Gave the young guys a final chance to make the roster, and... well, after the game Trotz said guys were given a chance and instead played their way off the roster. Ouch. He further stated only about 10 guys who played in that game were likely to make the team. Further ouch.

Woo! Nice seeing some hockey talk here. Btw, Blues are going to finally spank dat arse this season. The new jerseys put them over the hump. That and signing Paul Stastny.

Looking forward to the Blues/Rangers game in a week!

Five NHL surprises ready to happen - ESPN

quote:

Every NHL season has its surprises, and 2014-15 should be no different. Here are five poised to happen.

1. Patric Hornqvist, Pittsburgh Penguins: Almost all the talk about the deal that sent former Penguins sniper James Neal to the Nashville Predators was about Neal. He is good enough (or has the potential to be, at least) to set all kinds of Predators scoring records. The key piece coming back, though, was Hornqvist, the last player drafted in 2005 and a guy who will likely get a shot to play with Evgeni Malkin (or at times Sidney Crosby).

People bemoan Hornqvist's lack of foot speed, but he has a nose for the net, is a north-south player and had 12 goals and 23 points in his final 22 games last season for a Preds team that wasn't exactly chock-a-block with scoring talent. Playing with one of the two best centers in the world should give Hornqvist a shot at 35 goals.
