Money makes the world go round mate...1 million per home game plus playoff gates and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment is owned by thousands of shareholders that would like to see their profits maximized...

Yeah I understand the economic value and all but Do You really think that's actually going to happen? think of the scheduling nightmares and advirtising problems that come into play. I bet someone would build a new arena before one is shared.

Easy peasy no problem with schedule or marketing the arena houses the Raptors/Leafs/Rock Pro Lacross team and countless events

Why is it more feasible for the Leafs to play in the Air Canada Centre?

Leafs already play at the ACC... What do you mean? It would make sense for the expansion team to play there as well...

besides...they already share with the Raptors. Did you mean the new Toronto team would play there?

Okay...my only issue with that is you are reaching out to the EXACT same fan base. This is like the Jets and Giants, but football is a bit different. At least the NY and Chicago baseball teams are on different sides of town.

exactly like Jets/Giants except that MLSE wouldnt lose money as they own the raps/Leafs and the building...just sorta sweetening the pot...

Ok tonight I think Pittsburgh win 3-2 in OT and Philla wins 2-0

I like the philly pick...Let's Go FLYERS!

I'm not opposed to Canada getting back some of the existing franchises; provided that those aren't getting support. I think they said that the 6 Canadian teams account for 30% of the revenue in the NHL so it only makes sense to go where you're wanted. I don't think expansion is a good idea. Not to be a buzzkill, but I don't think Canadian relocation needs to involve another Toronto team. I know they could probably support it, but one is enough. I'm not a fan in general of putting two teams in the same market, even if it's a big/profitable market.

As far as tonight's game, the Pens have closed out 5 series in a row on the road dating back to last year's playoff run. They've been excellent on the road so I expect a good effort tonight. They also know that you can't let a team hang around; they've been able to summon the killer instinct without it having to be game 7. I sure don't want to go through the stress of a Game 7 as a fan and I doubt they want to either. Game 6 is the last game the Habs will feel the pressure b/c they're at home and the expectations are high. If it goes to 7, all the pressure is going to shift to the Pens. I think they'll find a way to win tonight.
I expect Boston to close out the Flyers tonight; they've been excellent at home in the playoffs.

back to the previous discussion...why the hell did Quebec move? I know the arena was outdated, and whatnot, but they had good support, didn't they?
Posted on 5/10/10 at 4:59 pm to TexasTiger08
Quebec had fantastic support; lousy ownership that saw a chance to make 100 million in profit at the right time....sellouts consistently and incredible rivarly with the Habs...it gutted people when they left

Put the new Southern Ontario team in Copps Coliseum and pay the Leafs and the Sabres compensation

It's not like Denver hasn't worked out.

Rumor has it that the Islanders are looking to move to Kansas City. Nassau Colisuem is a dump as is the rest of Hempstead (I had my lug nuts stolen there years ago). County has no $ for another arena.

Lets face it with 1-3 million you can upgrade Copps and its a wonderful city surrounded by about a million people...but Jeaux read the Globe and Mail article I linked...
