RB's had an average career of like 4 years before this rule?
Wonder what that # will look like after a few seasons of this rule.

So much for "fighting for yards"

Pretty sure if I heard correctly that the rule only applies once you get 3 yards past the line of scrimmage, so while bullying through the line it won't be a problem

Still is an issue with fighting for yards down field. Or when you are 10 yards beyond the LOS and a safety is running full speed at you. Now players have to think, "Have I gone 3 yards yet?"

a defender can come in, head down looking to hit you as hard as they can while all the running back can do is stand up straight and hope they don't get hurt
And Dorsett sounds just as retarded as anyone else making this claim. There is a big difference in leading with the crown of the head and standing straight up. It's easy to tell when a defender leads with the helmet, and I suspect it will be just as easy to tell when a runningback leads with the top of his helmet. Runningbacks can still tuck and lead with the shoulder, just not the crown of the helmet. All this is much a do about nothing.

Random hijack:
I saw your engagement announcement on the fridge of a buddy's fiancee' over the weekend. It was random as frick.
But congrats though.

I hate the rule so don't think I am defending it
But the players aren't going to "think if I made it 3 yards"
it happens so fast they are going to do it and hope its not a penalty
But the players aren't going to "think if I made it 3 yards"

yeah, I mean we know there will be helmet-to-helmet contact no matter what. It is the blatant hits with the crown of the helmet that will get flagged.
I think its funny that most people assume a flag will get thrown everytime
the game would be a hour longer or later with the constant breaks needed to make all the calls.

Well I'm saying goodbye to the NFL.
I'm glad I started watching Rugby.

Better get QBs to teach a RB how to slide.
