Honestly not much
Holding happens in every play
Some form of PI happens on every pass
Just choose when to call it and the players/play calling adjusts
Same with the NBA. People laughed at the possibility until a referee pulled back the curtain

Think Refs, not players. One call or lack of a call at the right time can change a game quick. Doesn't take much.

Not just the NFL. Lots of major sports. Just finished a podcast about NBA referee Tim Donaghy. He was a scapegoat for the entire NBA rigging games.

It is not fixed in the way the OP suggests. But the league does put its thumb on the scale to achieve desired outcomes. Anyone who thinks otherwise is naive. As another poster stated, it has moved closer on the spectrum to wrestling than it used to be.

Yes, but didn’t the Saints have like 5 chances in the 1st half inside Rams territory that could have put that game out of reach but failed????? That’s what cost the Saints that game.... the play you are talking about would not have mattered if the Saints took care of things like they should have.......
